"Even though I'm nothing more than a Vocaloid..."
When they awoke, all three girls were greeted by familiar faces.
"Rin, Luka, Neru, Len! What's going on? Why are you here too?" Teto asked.
"Where's Miku? Wasn't she performing with you last?" Ritsu asked.
All four Vocaloid stars looked worried.
"We were hoping she was with you after you fell down here." Luka admitted. "You haven't seen her at all?"
Teto shook her head. "No, we woke up, up there. Before we fell, we found him."
Rin was kneeling next to him when he started to wake up. "He's waking up!" She said, sounding relieved.
It took him a few moments to adjust his working eye to see clearly, but he got a good look at everyone when he could.
"You're not some killer robot, right?" Ritsu questioned him.
"Am I supposed to be?" He replied seriously. "If I am, you're out of luck. I don't really know exactly what I am. Think some of my files are gone."
"Okay, that definitely explains the error message.." Ruko said before Ritsu nudged her hard to be quiet.
"Do you know what your name is?" Teto asked.
He looked thoughtful for a moment before answering. "Soto. Least I think it is."
Holding Ruko's mouth closed so she couldn't say anything, Ritsu smiled. "Nice to meet you, Soto. I'm Namine Ritsu, and loudmouth over here is Yokune Ruko."
Soto chuckled a bit in response before the others introduced themselves. It seemed Neru was the most wary of him.
After everyone knew who the other person was beside them, they decided to search the room. In her search, Rin found a panel for a hidden door. Deciding to investigate it first, she clicked it and let the door open. Inside was a sight that both brought her to tears and caused her to scream, which caught everyone's attention immediately.
"Rin!" Len said, grabbing his sister and carefully moving away from the door, avoiding looking inside.
Luka froze at the sight, her eyes wide. Neru, in anger, punched the wall nearby. Ruko was shielding Ritsu's eyes, and Teto hid her face in Soto's chest after looking inside.
Inside, they'd found Miku. She was impaled in every direction, a truly gruesome sight. It seemed she fell from above into the spears.
"Shame, I really liked her card."
Everyone spun around at the sound of a sudden voice. Behind them, without them noticing in the small chaos, a hooded figure had entered the room.
"Card? What the hell are you talking about?!" Neru spat out.
"Surely you've checked your pockets by now?" The figure asked.
In response, everyone did. Everyone had one card that seemed to have just appeared there. The figure took out a card as well that had Miku on it.
"This was her card. Let's just read it for the fun of it, shall we?" They started. "Determination: The player may survive only one death after surviving the first round. Hmm, shame. This one was my favorite."
Neru started to go after them in anger before Luka held her back. "What the hell is your problem?! What kind of sick joke is this?!"
In response, Neru was lifted into the air and held there by her throat by a seemingly invisible force.
"No stop! She's just upset! Let her go, please!" Len begged.
"Are you prepared to use that card of yours then?" The figure asked.
"Yes! Just..just let her go!"
Neru was immediately released, falling to the ground as she coughed. Before anything else could happen, he passed Rin over to Ritsu. Then, he became engulfed in flames.
"The Beggar: Exchange your life for another player's." The hooded figure recited, Len's card appearing in their hand. The floor below the rest of the ground began to give away again. "I suggest you get to work on the next puzzle, or I'll be asking for more cards."
Second puzzle, incomplete. Cost: 2. Remaining number of players: 7. Proceeding to next area.
