A few months have passed since Kourtney's encounter with Tyler. It's now October and the weather is changing from warm summer nights to cold autumn evenings. The leaves are beginning to fall and the temperatures are dropping. Kourtney and Tyler have talked on the phone every day after school since August and they have gone to the movies to see a movie together multiple times. On September 16th he asked her if she'd be his girlfriend. They went out to eat at a nice restaurant called Rigetti's and asked her after they had ordered their dessert. Kourtney said yes and they've been dating ever since. Today is October 19th and it's Tyler's birthday. Kourtney thought she'd go over to his house and surprise him and give him the latest Gameboy along with a couple of Mario and Galactica games. She knew he'd like it because he's mentioned multiple times about how he'd love to have a Gameboy.

She woke up around eight that morning and got dressed to go over to his house. She put on a pair of jeans and a Star Wars t-shirt. Around nine she decided to go over to his house. She grabbed the wrapped box from her dresser and grabbed her purse that was sitting on her bed. She then went downstairs to get in her car.

"Mom! Dad! I'm going over to Tyler's for his birthday! I'll be back later!" She yelled before walking out the front door.

"Okay sweetie. Make sure you're home before six," her mother said.

Kourtney shut the door and went to her car. She popped the trunk to put Tyler's present and her purse in it and then hopped into her car and drove to Tyler's house. It only took about twenty minutes to get to Tyler's house. She couldn't wait to see him and see his reaction to his present. She drove into town to get to the subdivision he lived in. It consisted of elegant houses with vast backyards, perfect front yards with beautiful flowers and bushes, and very large houses. Most of the wealthy people lived in this subdivision and Tyler was one of them. Although his family had money, he wasn't spoiled or bratty like Victoria. Sure he had expensive clothes, but he wasn't materialistic. He loved the elegant lifestyle, but he would give it up in a heartbeat to be with the one he loved.

Once Kourtney arrived in town she made a left, a right, and then another left to turn into the neighborhood Tyler lived in. He lived at the end of the main road in a cul-de-sac. His house had a wraparound front porch and the house was built, not in brick but in stone. There were multiple short trees in the front yard and the grass was as green as a ripe watermelon. The house was huge and appeared to have 3 stories.

Kourtney pulled into Tyler's driveway, parked her car, and got out. She popped the trunk to get his present and her purse, shut it, and then locked her car. She then proceeded to the front door to ring the doorbell. She climbed the stone steps to reach the porch and rang the doorbell. A few moments passed until someone answered the door: It was Tyler's mother.

"Good morning, Mrs. Dowel," Kourtney said.

"Good morning, Kourtney!" She said in a cheery tone and then took a sip of her coffee she had in her hand.

"I hope it's not too early. I wanted to surprise Tyler and give him his birthday present."

"Oh no of course not! Come on in!" She said as she gestured for Kourtney to come in.

Kourtney walked through the doorway and found herself in the corridor. To the right on the wall there was a coat rack and below it there was a shoe rack to put your shoes in upon entering the house. Kourtney unlaced her converse she was wearing, took them off, and put them on the shoe rack.

"Tyler's in the kitchen eating his birthday breakfast," his mother said. "Waffles, eggs over easy, bacon, and a bowl of fruit!"

"Sounds delightful!" Kourtney exclaimed.
