Part 10

Nobody calls me a wimp, I'm everything but. I hope..

I climbed on to the first rock which seemed pretty high up. But it wasn't enough. So i went onto the next rock

"I think that's high enough Springs, stay there, do that one"

I stared him down as i looked at the next one. I jumped onto a little step that gave me enough elevation to hurl my hands on the top of the rock. With i pulled myself up. This was it, The big one

"Mmmm seems dangerous" chloe said to Matthew in a patronising tone. I may have been pretty far away but i could still hear her voice....unfortunately.

I stood up on the highest rock and started into the water. I couldn't see a damn thing, it was closer to black than blue. From the judgement i could make, this rock was higher than my bedroom window, hell it was higher than my house without a doubt.

"Come on Ivanna, stop playing" Matthew took a step away from Chloe and looked at me with a hint of worry.
Ha i liked that.

"You told me to!" I yelled back

"Off the small one dammit! Jesus Ivanna I've only done that jump once and it scared the shit outta me! Get down now or i'm coming up!"
By this point Chloe was on her phone, clearly taking no notice.

I was still wearing clothes over my swimsuit. So i took off my jeans and top and took a step closer to the ledge.

I heard him say something as he ran over and skipped over the first 2 rocks like it was nothing.
He got to me and took off his shoes

"I'm not letting you go in. I'm here now, so if you go i have to go in after you, do you have any idea how dangerous this is if you get it wrong?"
He told me

"Jesus we're not in the titanic, calm down Jack"

"Say what you want but if you go in too far, the water gets too shallow, too close and the rocks hit you and they will tumble. It's happened before."

Thanks Matthew but i'll take my chance. I lifted my arms as i faced him and smiled.

"Stop me" I whispered

"Don't"
he reached out his hand to me and I smiled as i closed my eyes and let my body drop down over the ledge.

"IVANNA" i heard him from the top as my body turned backward as i fell,  my head faced directly towards the water. I quickly made my best effort to curl myself into a ball as much as i could before i hit the water.

And boom.
The impact was so strong it stung me. I was sinking for a good 2 seconds before my foot hit something, and of course it got jammed. I had knocked over 2 big rocks underwater and the top one fell back onto my foot leaving it locked in place. I couldn't think, i reached over and tried to dislodge it but the more i tried the more it hurt, and the more panicked i got.
It felt like hours until finally a crash at the surface emerged and there he was.  

He looked at me as i pointed to my foot, he put his legs on both sides of it and lifted the rock with all his strength as i tried to wiggle myself free. My efforts were getting to me as everything began to get fuzzy. This had to happen now, with all of the power i could muster, i pushed my body away with my arms and finally I was loose. But i felt my lungs tighten, and i began to panic more than ever as I desperately tried to hurl my body towards the surface but the closer i got the further it seemed. And the more i tried the tireder i got.

i was going to die. I made my peace and stopped trying. I stopped wondering where Matthew had gone, maybe it wasn't him. Maybe it was just a hallucination. But i stopped, and i dropped as i closed my eyes and let my body sink. Maybe it was better this way, i had thought about it before. And even though i was scared, it was quiet, it was peaceful.
I started thinking to myself
'It's okay, everything's okay now. Maybe it was meant to happen. Just focus on the heartbeat. Focus on the heartbeat.'

There was another voice, distinct and clear. 
It was mum. She came for me
"Just forget about everything and let go. Don't worry baby, i'm waiting for you. Don't be scared now, my little girl is never scared"
Mum. I'm coming.
I'm coming home.
