I push the door open, frigid January air blasting into my face. My breath catches in my throat, as the below-freezing air burns as I breathe it. I swallow the little bit of saliva I have left, and walk out of the door frame, down the steps and away from my house. I turn back, the screams of my toddler siblings barely audible. I just need to get away from them. Just for an hour.
