CHAPTER 4: Survival of the fittest

( Now Garris had grown into a very fine warrior, and had just one more task to pass through to become the new army general of Dorrem. But to do so he had to compete in various tests among 6 of the bravest and the strongest soldiers of Dorrem, including himself. These were the six:
Oram :
He was the son of man Weaver. A man who was believed to be as strong as that of a wild bull. Is very good at using iron the mallet. He is a tall man with a bright scar on his face. He is completely muscled. He has a huge tattoo on his back. It is the imprint of a sun.
Then there is this other soldier by name Kato.
Kato: A man who is dedicated to his service for Dorrem. He is brilliant at archery, he is a sensible man with great intelligence. He is also a great swimmer, he is not so tall and has a crooked nose.
There is also another soldier by name Ruff, who completely believed in brute strength. He is zero in every other field other than his strength. He is a tall man who loves breaking bones and crushing skulls. He believes that the only key to success is violence and nothing else.
Soto is a cruel and a very cunning man. Though he isn't good at weaponry, he has learnt martial arts. He studied martial arts under the care of a monk at a monastery. But that was long time back, as the monk is no more.
There is also this soldier by name Gorr. He is a very lazy man who does not like to do anything except for eating tasty meat with good wine. He has reached this position, only by the influence of his uncle, who serves in the army with great dedication. One good thing that you might find in Gorr is that he is quite brave.
And last but not the least, is the protagonist of the story, Garris. A tall strong man, who is attractive in his looks, and in body. He is very good at sword fighting, And is very intelligent. He can't be tricked that easily, and is full of wise sayings. So these were the six soldiers, those were selected from the land, to be the new general of Dorrem. Currently they were being taken to King Dek, who would select the next army general of Dorrem.)
( In the backyard of the castle of King Dek.)
King Dek: Good day to all of you, my fellow soldiers. You are here for a very important cause. In your hands the future of Dorrem s army lies upon. But to reach that ultimate decision, all six of you must go under a few test s. That would rely completely, on your strength, wits and bravery. Your first test will be, the test of  outsmarting your opponent's. Each of you will face a guard, who will use a weapon in battle against you. But you will not use a weapon. The winner will be who knock down his opponent, am I clear.
Garris: Yes, your majesty.
Ruff: Yes, your majesty.
Soto: Yes, your majesty.
Gorr: Yes, your majesty.
Cato: Yes, you majesty.
Oram: Yes, your majesty.
King Dek: Ludwig, you shall take Garris as your opponent. Soviex, you will face Ruff. Cegar, Soto will be your opponent. Magnus, you will be facing Gorr. Cato, Vegastis shall be your opponent. And Oram you will face Graveck.
The first fight, will be between Garris and Ludwig.
( Ludwig is a very healthy man, with good looking biceps. He is strong and fierce. Due to his strength he prefers to use the soul reaper. The soul reaper is a very long steel chain, with a metallic hook towards the end.)
( All of a sudden there is pin drop silence in the field. Both the warriors are ready with thier fighting stances.)
King Dek: Begin.
( The fight begins as Ludwig, throws the soul reaper towards Garris, aiming his right hip. Garris dodges it, and catches a part of the steel chain, and pulls it with full force, pulling Ludwig towards him. As he reaches at a certain distance, Garris gives him a hard punch on his face, and then on his stomach. Ludwig in response gives Garris a punch, on his right cheek, and throws him on the other side. As Garris tries to get up, Ludwig chokes Garris with the steel chain, and pulls it tightly, in hope that Garris will give up. But Garris recovers, he gets up and starts punching Ludwig. Some of the punches were hard, thus Ludwig loosens his grip, Garris takes this as his opportunity, and he escapes from the submission hold. And went to give Ludwig a huge blow, Ludwig ducks, and grabbes both feet of Garris, and starts spinning him, round and round, faster and faster, and then throws him on the ground. And Ludwig shoots the metal hook towards Garris, as it pierces through his hip. Ludwig was not done yet he pulls back the metal hook with full force, carrying Garris with it, and throws him off, ripping open his waist. As Garris tries to recover, Ludwig tries to attack Garris again, but this time, Garris catches the metal hook, and starts pull it towards his side, and Ludwig tries to pull the hook towards his side with a lot of force. Towards the end Garris let's go, and Ludwig collapses, due to the force,. As Ludwig tries to get back on his feet, Garris charges towards Ludwig, at full pace and jumps on both shoulders of Ludwig, pinning them to the ground. Unluckily for Ludwig, there was a rock below his right shoulder. His shoulder dislocates. Ludwig quickly starts holding his shoulder, crying out with pain. Garris takes advantage of the situation, and puts his legs around Ludwig's head,and flips his entire body at an awkward angle, such that Ludwig's Adams Apple is on Garris s left knee, and crushing Ludwig's head with his right leg.
Ludwig becomes helpless and starts to spit out blood, and faints. Thus making Garris the winner.)
King Dek: Well done o brave Garris!! You have successfully passed the first test. Get some rest you shabby looking person. And you better heal on time.
Garris: Yes sire.
King Dek: Oram , Graveck your battle shall be next, so get ready.
( Graveck is a forty year old man, he has served in the army for more than twenty five years. He has great experience, and loves to use the heavy wooden stick. He himself is very strong, and has very good stamina.)
King Dek: On your marks.
( They both get ready.)
King Dek: Begin.
( As the fight starts, Graveck tries to attack Orams head with the heavy staff, but Oram ducks and dodges the attack, Graveck tries it again, and this time Oram catches the heavy stick, and starts to punch him on his belly. Graveck in response, punches Oram on the face, and then gives him a tight slap on his cheek. Then using the base of his stick, he hits Oram on the forehead. Oram starts to bleed, then Graveck goes down, and holds one of Oram s hind legs, and tosses him up in the sky, making him do a backflip, as Oram land on his back. As Oram tries to recover, Graveck gives him two hard blows on his shoulders. Then cracks open Oram s nose with the help of his knee. And then ruthlessly Graveck smashes him with the stick, squashing Oram like a tiny insect. Oram still gets up. Graveck gives one final blow on Oram s head. Oram collapses on the ground, and faints.)
King Dek: Well done o brave soldier. This young lad thought being the general would be so easy, but he just adds disgrace to the word warrior. Get him out of my sight.
( Graveck carries Oram on his shoulders, and takes him to an inn, to bandage his wounds, and scars.)
King Dek: Soto, Cegar get ready, for your fight shall be next.
( Cegar is a good warrior, who loves using the Trident. He is strong, rough and of course tough. He has an attitude that you will not see in many people. He loves war and art. Ladies just a reminder, he is single.)
King Dek: On your marks
( Soto takes his tiger stance, Cegar on the other side, is tossing his trident from one hand to the other.)
King Dek: Begin.
( Soto charges towards Cegar, he tries to give him a kick on the side of Cegar s face, but Cegar, dodges it, he takes his trident and stabs it inside Soto s stomach. Soto is in deep pain as Cegar pulls the trident out. Cegar tries to stab Soto again, but this time Soto jumps in the air and gives him a flying kick. Then he gave eight continuous punches on Cegar s chest. Then he gives Cegar a hard blow on his pressure point, paralyzing his left side. And then gives him a hard kick on the centre of his chest, as he flies and crashes on the rough land. Soto thinks the match is over, and walks off, but Cegar quickly gets up, takes the trident on his right hand, and throws it straight towards Soto. Soto sees it coming, he catches the trident, does a backflip, and throws it back to Cegar, as it bursts open his right shoulder. Soto then gives Cegar a running chop on his head, and Cegar faints.)
King Dek: Excellent young boy. I can see a strong soldier within you. For now take some rest.
King Dek: Soviex, Ruff you are next.
( Soviex is a young, and an inexperienced warrior. But he surely does know, how to use the spear. He is agile and is very dedicated to his work. But his inexperience might be his only disadvantage.)
King Dek: Get ready.
( Soviex is completely nervous as he looks at Ruffs size. And starts to shiver.)
King Dek: Begin!!
(Soviex sprints with full speed towards Ruff, with his spear. He tries to stab Ruff on his chest. But instead Ruff catches his spear, snatches it away from him and breaks it into two. And then gives him a hard punch on Soviex's stomach. He spits out blood and then he collapses on the ground.)
( King Dek starts to laugh as the fight got over.)   King Dek: Hmm, beware all the warriors who have passed this. This brave Gladiator here , will be the biggest obstacle for your dream. He is like a rock that cannot be moved. So Beware. You have passed successfully. Cato, Vegastis, the both of you are next.
( Vegastis is one  man who is very good, kind and intellectual. He loves using the mallet. He also loves horse riding and hunting. He hates politics and ducks.)
King Dek: On your positions.
( They take their positions.)
King Dek: Begin!!
( Vegastis starts to spin quickly in aim to injure Cato. Cato being a very skillful and cunning person dodges,every single attack put forward by Vegastis. He jumped up and down , moved from left to right. Crossing hurdles above hurdles, without getting a single scratch in his body, Cato kept on getting Vegastis frustrated and more over angry. Vegastis tried to attack Cato's leg , but Cato jumps, then Vegastis tried to cut his hand open , but Cato ducked. Towards the end Vegastis gets tired and cannot continue to fight. Thus King Dek declared the fight to stop,, and Cato is the winner.)
King Dek: Magnus, Gorr you both are next.
( Magnus is a brave soldier, who is as big as a wild East, and has the strength of a bear. He is a wild man and is feared by all. He loves using the sword, crushing bones and taking souls.)
King Dek: Positions.
( They take their positions.)
King Dek: Begin.
( The moment Gorr saw Magnus's strength and size, he fell flat on the ground and fainted.)
King Dek: Garris,Ruff, Soto and Cato well done, you have passed the first test. Take rest heal your wounds till the test next week.
