Audrey's POV
"AHHHH!"
The last demon slams against the side of the car again, rattling and almost tilting us over. It lets out a vicious growl at Connor, its scaly body glistening under the sun. Connor blasts it with a ball of water, hitting it on its side. It growls louder, its talons reaching out to Connor.
I try to swerve the car away from the demon but one of its claws latches onto the car. Instead I try driving the car into the demon in hopes of hurting it enough to force it to let go of the car. It lets out an ear deafening screech, it only seems to get it angrier.
I can see Connor from my peripheral vision, his eyes closed and I can see him murmuring something under his breath. He raises both of his hands up, he summons a ball of water in between his palms. This time the ball was glowing red and gold.
My eyes widen at this, "Holy sh*t." I say under my breath as I try and steer my way through the streets.
With a loud battle cry, he blasts the last demon running beside the car with a deadly whirlpool with full force. The demon goes flying in the air, screeching and disappearing into the distance.
He slides back down into his seat, shaking and out of breathe, exhaustion clearly written all over him. His face drenched in sweat, his skin pale and hands trembling.
"Uhh.."
He takes a deep breath and takes the wheel, now looking calm, collected and unfazed with the fact that those things that aren't supposed to exist just attacked us and the fact that freaking water appeared from his palms out of nowhere!
"What were they?! What are you?!" I asked him, waving my arms like a madman. "What the hell is happening?"
So many things were going through my head. Just mind blown. Am I seeing thins? Oh my God, I'm delusional, I lost my mind. Am I crazy?!
He tightens his grip on the wheel and speeds up.
"What the hell is happening?" I repeat.
He lets out a sigh and turns his head to look at me still looking exhausted. "Just wait. We're almost there."
"There? Where's there?"
He sighs again.
Clearing my throat, I ask. "A-are you okay?"
He gives me a silent nod.
WE WERE JUST ATTACKED BY DEMONS. HE HAD WATER COMING OUT OF HIS HAND AND HE'S NOT PANICKING?! Okay-okay, calm down Audrey. Look at Connor, he's calm. If he's calm then I shouldn't be as worried. Right? I mean things couldn't get any more weirder than it already is.
The car passes the last house of the suburb and drives on in a less developed area. We drive past fields of wild flowers and trees. I press my forehead against the glass window heaving a long sigh, suddenly tired.
If mom and dad knew that this just happened, for sure I wouldn't ever be allowed to go out again. Pretty sure they would lock me in the basement for my own safety and occasionally will pass me down some food and water.
Connor turns into this long uneven dirt driveway, hidden by tall oak trees. If you weren't paying attention or looking carefully for it, you would have missed the turn. Like I said, it was hidden.
He slows the car down and stops in the middle of the field. Are we lost?
"Uh.. is this where you kill me?" I squeaked, sinking into my seat. I grip my seat belt tight to my chest, suddenly aware of my surroundings.
