Farewell Joel..

Chapter Two

The sun had fallen and the nights chilly wind was rushing by and the air was thin as the snowflakes drifted throughout the air, Joel's arms tightly grasped Ahrens body giving off his body heat, the dark plum sky reminded Joel of the night Ahren had gone through, however Joel was tempted to look through a dusty beaten down diary that he had been carrying with him, perhaps he'd read it tonight. The stars aligned the sky and memories of Joel and Ahren running around the forest flashed through his mind, his smile faint but still there, suddenly Joel felt as if air was wrapping around him in an light hug, he smiled thinking of his mother, shaking off the thought he walked breathing in the dry harsh air, the clouds slightly covering the brightly lit moon, the house came into view the light tan colour popping out in the moonlight, quickly Joel opened the door and locked it walking to Ahrens room, he gently tucked him in and debated on something..
"I can't he'll kill me even if I tried.."
Slowly Joel kissed his cheek and walked off into the dinning room pulling out the black notebook, the pages crisp and intact, as he flipped to the first page his eyes were shocked to see the words written down,

"Never alone, we found each other in the dark, we are on the lonely hearts"
"I've been searching for an exit so lost inside my head..wishing I was dead.."

Joel's eyes glued to the pages full of song lyrics,quotes, and things Ahren wanted to get off his chest, suddenly the book shut closed and fell to the floor opening up to a page with the title "suicide attempt",
Joel's eyes shot wide, the thought of Ahren thinking of killing himself brought tears to his eyes,
"My attempt would be on the cliff when there is a full moon, when the stars are aligned and shining on the ocean waves, they are so beautiful, and it would have to be in winter, the waves become violent and harsh as they are slightly frozen smashing against the rugged cliff shaking the rocks to the ocean floor. I want to remember all of the good memories by marking them with a scar that's on my body, however I would fall into the water and gasp for air giving up and I hope the last thing I would think of is Joel's eyes, they are beautiful and I think he's one of my reasons to live on this earth, he's my everything, I probably won't even ever fully try to die, perhaps one day.."
Suddenly Joel heard footsteps and Ahrens soft gentle voice call out his name, quickly Joel placed the book in his book bag,
"String I'm down here"
Suddenly a tired Ahren walked into the room his hair all over the place his shirt was now removed showing off his many tattoos, the light surrounding him, he looked like a angel.
"Why are you by yourself?"
"You seemed tired and I didn't want to wake you, you looked exhausted"
"Oh, well c'mon we have school tomorrow don't we?"
"No, it's a marking period end, we have about one more week until winter break."
"Oh, I see.. and I have a request.."
"Anything what do you want"
Joel desperately wanted to here his come from those lips he so desperately wanted to kiss
"Could you sing for me? I know it's late but I love hearing your voice it's beautiful"
"Only for you"
The room now quiet and Joel cleared his throats and sighed before starting to sing,
" I'm not searching the sky for a reason to live, Cause I found beauty right here and found the passion to give, So let me give you my heart, let me give you my tears, Let me give you my life, let me give you my fears.
Just so you can hold on and sing while I do,
Sing these words out so loud,
Like I sing them for you.
This is your open letter, something to remember.."
Ahrens smile made the room brighter and Joel couldn't help but smile at the adorable boy I front of him, his smile intoxicating the air around them peaceful
"Joel, let's play questions!"
"Alright, you can ask first"
"Favorite colour?"
"Blue, favorite snack?"
"Pizza obviously, best friend?"
"Satan"
"What! Since when! I never knew I was replaced!"
"Says the person with the word Satan tattooed above his ankle"
"Oh hush you love me"
"You wish string"
Suddenly there was a scratching noice coming from Joel's front door, and small whines, as Ahren opened the door he was met with his beloved Quincy, his fluffy orange hair sticking up and cold, his little paws a deep red as he was on the path to getting frostbite. Quickly Joel grabbed Quincy and put him in a water sink of water his soft meows echoed through the house and after twenty minutes Quincy was dried and pacing around the house,
"Why is he pacing?"
Joel was confused, Quincy never walks around
"The last time he was over was two years ago, you changed the house up he's looking for his snacks"
The two chucked and laughed with one another, Joel wrapped his arms around Ahren and his eyes fluttered closed and He cuddled up to his side enjoying the safe comforting feeling, soon after Quincy joined as he laid between the two purring throughout the night

The lights flickered off and on, Ahrens eyes opened confused as he glanced up in blurry sight he saw a woman who looked familiar, her eyes were almost like Joel's, she smiled and kissed his check and his eyes shut closed, the lights shut off and the two slept in the arms of each other

"Joel.. I'm so proud of you baby, you make me proud, you and Ahren are one of a kind, you found a soulmate in the heart of your best friend, I love you both.."
After the lights shut off a peaceful warm embrace wrapped around the house.
