Joel's eyes opens wide frightened by the empty spot next to him, his breathing rugged and sharp, his eyes puffy and red finally standing he began running into the forest, the snow hitting his skin fast the light running past him the sky blurred by the speed and snowfall the air thick and frosted.
The world was unbalanced the snow hitting his skin felt as if he was being stabbed, the coldness overtaking his body, he was holding his breath fighting against his lungs, tree branches and twigs snapped under the force of his body running, the sky blurred and finally the dark blue gradient came to his sight, suddenly a hand was struggling to grab ahold of the melting cliff, Joel's ran over and grasped the hand and as he looked down he almost dropped Ahrens hand, he pulled his body to his tightly embracing his body, the snow covered the two as they sat in each others arms taking a moment of silence to understand what just occurred,
"Ahren..why what triggered this?.."
Suddenly Ahrens shoulders became tense and he hid his face from Joel's view, slowly Joel's hand grasped his chin locking eyes with one another, his once beautiful face now busted up with bruises, his cheek red with a hand print, above his left eyebrow a deep sharp cut, his right eye almost swollen shut black and blue. Joel gasped and pulled him back into his embrace, the two sat in a comfortable silence, Joel grabbed a snowball pressing it to Ahrens eye, slowly his giggled and then poured his emotions,
"Joel, I don't understand."
"String what don't you understand?"
"You."
"Well what do you want to know?"
"Why you help me back to my feet. I'm nothing I'm useless, I'm always depressed and tired, I ruin everything and I'm a disappointment and I've tried to kill myself , and yet here I fucking am tired and giving up, you shouldn't have to hear this, I'm sorry, I shouldn't of said anything.."
Joel locked eyes and frowned, his warm hands creasing Ahrens checks looking at him lovingly, slowly he leaned in kissing his nose, smiling shyly and giggling,

"Strong, you are strong, you have so many things to live for, you don't want to die you just lost your reasons and purpose in life. If you truly wanted to die you would of done it by now. Yeah your depressed but you're searching instead of finding something or someone that makes you find it in you to breathe another time. Ahren you aren't done living you've only just begun, and I'm here the whole path of you need me, and to be honest you are my reason to live.."
The ocean crashed into the cliff shaking small loose rocks, sending them to the bottom of the ocean, embraced in each others arms the two smiled even after a suicide attempt,
Joel stood up grabbing Ahren and walking to his favourite spot, the grass overestimate by a thick layer of snow, the tall oak tree stood covered and frosted over, the wood was covered by the many layers of frozen snow, slowly kicking the trunk a step ladder swung down into the snow, carrying Ahren in his arms Joel after many attempts finally reached the tree house, his second escape from life when he needed it. The air now warm and comforting, the walls painted a light cream colour, they were covered by multiple band skate decks and posters, and a few sketches from friends. The floor covered in multiple rugs, many pillows and blankets scattered on the floor, the room split into two a large fridge full of non-alcoholic beverages for Ahren as he has a bad liver, and monster which was an essential for living.

The snow blasted cold air into the window that Joel's father helped install, small tears brushed down his checks. Looking down at Ahren his smile faded, the back and blue handprints covered his inked skin. He began to shake. Joel laid him down on the bed, covering him in blankets as he wrote new lyrics. The sunlight dimmed down as Joel passed out on the song book.
A thick chuckle ran through the room, a man wearing a black suit, his clothes proper and his smile wide.
"Joel.. the time is coming soon.. be prepared for large loss my son.. I love you"
And as time passed around the treehouse filled with happiness.
