"Yoonbum!!"

I froze. My body wasn't shaking or excited or anything. It was just frozen stuck. i didn't want to move. i felt my core heating up as if a fire was igniting inside of me.

Ashes...

That's all i could think of.  I saw a tiny girl run over, she seemed to be entirely out of breath but i recognized that face. her nose was bright pink along with her cheeks. She wore glasses now and her hair was longer than before.

"Yoonbum! I've been searching for you all over town for a week now!" She smiled warmly at me but lost it when she made eye contact with Sangwoo. I was too scared to look at him. "oh! Greetings! Im y/n! Yoonbum's classmate from the academy!"

She bowed a bit. I heard Sangwoo's voice behind me. "You can call me Sangwoo" he said. I turned my head a bit to see a smile on his face but his eyes were cold and dark.

"It's nice to meet you, Sangwoo." She smiled at him. Her hair swayed when she stood up.

"likewise. why don't you tag along, y/n? Bum could use the company." He waved off, his friends were getting a bit irritated with this interaction, especially the girl under his shoulder.

She grinned and nodded. She looked at me while they kept walking forward. why didn't she show up now? why does she care? but that wasn't the thought that really bothered me.
What was Sangwoo planning? He seemed bothered by her arrival but allowed her to come with ease.

"Yoonbum? Hello?" she waved her hand in front of
my face. I swallowed hard and looked at her. "let's go! We can't fall behind!" She said excitedly.

Soon, We were all in a restaurant. Sangwoo and his friends were on one side of the table while y/n and i sat together on the other. But i knew he was watching us. i could feel his eyes on me but i couldn't help myself. I wanted to talk to her so badly.
I was trying to come up with things to say, my fingers fiddling in my lap with my head lowered,
avoiding eye contact.

"you're nervous." She said, gaining my attention. She held out her hands and waiting. "come on, Bum, gimme your hands" she motioned me.
I placed my hands on hers. Although i had grown thin and weak, her hands were still smaller and soft. she held my hands and caressed it with her thumb. "relax." she said, she used to do this when i would get nervous before a test or going home. it helped me feel warm and a bit confident.
I let out a deep breath before gazing at her. She was just staring but her eyes were full as adoration like before with a little smile.

"i missed you a lot. I felt so horrible about leaving without saying goodbye so the moment i finished school, i came back to see if you were still around." She said, moving one hand away but still held the other. She began talking about her other school life before pausing. "Yoonbum? why are you covered in bandages? What happened to your legs? You've never been the clumsy type,,,I thought you moved away from your family."

I swallowed and peered at Sangwoo, his eyes were on me, he was just watching. He has a bit smirk on his face and waved his hand for to talk. He was playing.

I didn't know how to lie to her. She knew i was being hurt from years of knowing me before. I took a small inhale before speaking "i got into a bad car crash and it ended badly" i lied through my teeth. She stared at me but didn't bother to ask anymore.
