Chapter 30

I woke up and sat up, getting all the kinks out. Man this chair was terrible, why Chaos put them here I don’t know why.

While I was sitting there, cursing the chair and waiting for Annabeth to wake up I heard a distant voice signing some song down the hallway.

I don't know about you.

But I'm feeling 22!

Everything will be alright if

You keep me next to you!

You don't know about me!

But I'll bet you want to!

Everything will be alright if

We just keep dancing like we're… 22!

Huh, I think that’s Henry. He continued to sing, but was cut off by a yelling Sam.

“Dude! Shut up!” she yelled. “I was sleeping.”

I stood and made my way down the hallway in time to see Sam chuck a pillow at Henry’s face.

He easily dodged the pillow and walked over to a chair and sat down. He crossed his arms and pouted like a little kid. "Why the heck are you so mean to me?" he whined.

"Because you're annoying!" she said and pulled another pillow over her head and turned over.

"That's no excuse! Besides, you're the meanie in this relationship!" He stuck his tongue out at her.

"Whatever.”

"Fine!" Henry huffed. He got up and skipped away, singing:

We're happy, free, confused, and lonely in the best way!

It's miserable and magical.

Oh, yeah

Tonight's the night when we forget about the heartbreaks

It's time!

I walked over and sat in Henry’s vacated seat. “So Sam, why are you mean to the little dickens?”

“I told him, he gets on my nerves! With the singing and the dancing and the smiling. No one should be that happy.” She pulled the pillow off her head and glared at me. “Come to think of it. You're doing the same thing as he is, annoying me I mean.”

I pouted. “I am not as bad as him.”

She placed the pillow over her head. “Oh sure. Prove it.”

“How?”

“Go away and let me sleep.” She inhaled deeply and snuggled deeper into the couch cushions.

I shrugged and said in a loud voice. “Well fine! I guess you won’t have time to beat up some campers, maybe even Jerome.”

She shot up at that and I snickered internally. “Back up Punk. What did you say about beating up some campers?”

“Afternoon classes.” I reminded her. “Fighting classes, with you know… a sword and or knife? I figured you could hold a demonstration.” I raised an eyebrow and lifted a corner of my mouth. “Interested?”

She jumped up, throwing the pillow to the ground. “You had me at ‘beat up some campers.”

At that moment, Henry popped his head into the room and started to sing:

Don’t say

Don’t say goodnight you kno-ow

You had me at hello!
