Once we were home, I set the rose in a vase of water and placed it on the desk in my room. I had no idea how to take care of a rose, I'd never had one before but I assumed it needed water and access to sunlight. I sat on my bed with my bear and did some of my homework. I had a block of dark chocolate beside me and my headphones were up loud while I moved my head to the music. My bedroom door sprang open making me squeal in surprise.

"Char what are you doing?"

"What am I doing? What aren't you doing? It's nearly 8 o'clock, aren't you supposed to be going out?"

I gave her a surprised look. "You're not taking this note seriously are you? It was probably a joke from someone. I'm good thanks."

"Fine, when your prince charming rocks up here to pick you up for your romantic night I'm going to send him up here so he can take you out."

"Great. Can't wait."

I placed my headphones back on, signalling the end of the conversation.

I wasn't worried about someone showing up, no one would. The thought actually made me feel incredibly sad. It was better than being hopeful though.

I continued to sit on my bed in my pyjama shorts and singlet top. My hair was in a messy bun and I wasn't wearing a bra. I was incredibly comfortable.

I looked at the time on my clock 7:57. My heart began to flutter a little bit but I squashed away the nerves with some more chocolate. Nothing was going to happen. I moved on to my English homework which meant reading a chapter from Othello. I picked up the book and laid back on my bed getting comfortable.

7:59pm

I sighed and shook my head. "I'm so stupid." I muttered to myself. I put my head back into my book forcing myself to concentrate.

My door opened again and I jumped nearly falling off my bed.

"Charlene. Give me some warning before you do that." I yelled while I tried to right myself. I'd fallen a bit and lost the place in my book. I heard male laughter and looked up.

"Hawke? What are you doing here?"

He was laughing at me but trying his best to remain serious. He came into the room and took a seat at the end of my bed.

"Didn't you get the note? I'm here for our date."

I raised my eyebrows at him. "You sent me the flower?"

"And the teddy bear." He smiled proudly.

I looked at him, tilting my head slightly trying to decide if he'd done it as a joke, a pity date but no. That's not something he would do.

"You're seriously here to take me out on a date?"

"Yes." He smiled at me, that full on smile that went straight to his eyes. The smile that made me forget to breathe.

"It's not a joke?"

"No." He gave a small chuckle. "Are you ready?"

I looked down at what I was wearing and suddenly my cheeks flushed. I wasn't really wearing much at all.

"I'm not quite ready." I said trying not to freak out and cover my body up.

"No worries, I can wait."

"What should I wear?"

"Whatever you feel comfortable in." He looked over my body again and smiled. "You look great as you are."
