Waking up today was so easy and yet so difficult. I couldn't sleep from excitement, and yet I was so tired cause I got no sleep. At this point, I couldn't tell if I was scared or excited. I mean, going to another country is an experience, but what if it's a bad one? I shook my head. It'll be great. I'll have all my friends with me. Even if it wasn't exactly my first time in another country, I was still extremely nervous. I had never stayed in another country for longer than a week.

This trip is creating a huge opprotunity for me though. I just have to remember that. Taking that online film class after graduating early was probably the best decision I have ever made. And I even get the chance to become friends with some of my classmates. But to be fair, I'll probably just stick around my best friend Jay. She'll probably be the main character of my film project, but we'll see.

My mom barged into my room throwing me back into reality. She couldn't stop talking about how I was 'leaving her' as if she wasn't the one who pushed me into this so I'd make more friends.

"Good morning Ma." She smiled and sat down on my bed next to me.

"Good morning love, how are you?" She handed me a bowl of oatmeal and rubbed my back.

"I'm very excited, but also very nervous."

"I understand, but I think this will be very good for you. It'll give you an opprotunity to travel and learn about new cultures and experience many new things. You'll love it."

"You sure?" She smiled and nodded her head.

"I'm positive." I gave her a smile and she got up and started walking away. She stopped at the doorway and looked back at me. "I made a list of all the essentials you might need while you're away. It's on the counter downstairs." I threw up a heart sign with my fingers and she gestured me one back, and then she closed my door and left.

I finished off my oatmeal while watching some television and then headed downstairs. The house was quiet like normal. Everyone was always busy doing something else. My older brothers were always working on something and my little sister MiSun was usually out with some friends.

I put my dish in the sink and grabbed the check list my mom had made me. I looked it over for a minute and was headed back to my room.

"SuNi!" Someone called out. I stopped in my tracks and poked my head around the corner. It was my oldest brother JinWoo. A sweatheart, but a broke one.

"What's up?"

"I made you think anklet since you're probably gonna be on the beach a lot. I figured you'd want to have some cool ankles instead of boring ones....ya know." he rocked back and forth shyly. He loved to give gifts, but he didn't really know how. Just one big awkward loving character.

"Thank you." I hugged him tightly. He was always there for me and made me the prettiest gifts. "It' beautiful, I'll wear it at all times." He smiled and ran off.

I headed back up to my room and finished packing up my things. At this point I had about four bags ready. I wasn't sure what all I would want and mom said she would help pay for extra carry on's if I really needed it. I plopped down on my bed and breathed a breath of relief.

Let's hope I don't screw this up

(time to leave)

Several hours later, my whole family was helping me pack into the car and saying their goodbyes to me. I was sad I wouldn't be able to see them for a while, but maybe it's what I need in my life. I hugged everyone, even my little sister, and hopped into the car. I waved at all of them goodbye and they slowly dissapeared in the distance as the car got further and further away.

Here I come America.
