(Sam's pov.)
I turn 12 today, and I'm very excited. Dad told me that now I get to leave my elementary school and train at the military base to become a lieutenant just like him. He told me that after I had a few years training, he would take me on a mission with him.

I woke up and got dressed in cargo pants and a white t-shirt. It was 6:00 a.m. when I finished, yeah I learned real quick about waking up early when dad flipped my bed over...multiple times.

Even though I want to be like my dad, I also really love to act. He doesn't know though, but I practice in my mirror all the time. Now that I'm going into training I have to stop, and make training my top priority.

But back to the present, my father gave me an MRE to eat for breakfast. I'm used to these meals since my dad didn't know how to cook.

"Are you ready to start at the academy" my father asked me. "Yes sir, I'm really excited" I told him. "Well since its your birthday I got you something" he said taking out a small box. I opened it to find a pocketknife, my first one ever.

"Thank you so much dad, you remembered" I thanked him. "Well I thought you'd need it, but you know never to use it except in emergencies. And at the academy your going to learn how to defend yourself without a weapon" he said. I loved my father to death, so I had to ask him if he would visit.

"Of course I'll visit you, but this way it'll be easier to go on missions and your safe" he said. He told me to get my suitcase full of stuff while a marines driver was going to drive us to the academy. We got into the car and it drove off to my new school. We finally got there and I hugged my father goodbye and walked to the dorm rooms.

I went to the girls side and looked for room 397. Apparently my roommate was already there waiting for me. "Hey, my names Bailey and I'm your dorm mate" she said, a little overexcited but she seemed nice.

"I'm Sam, and I guess this is our room" I asked her. "Yep" she responded. "I'm so glad your not an evil witch, unlike my fathers dorm mate here" I told Bailey. "Well that's the boys for you, but you better stay clear of Tori. She's definitely a witch" she said, and we laughed at her joke.

I thought to myself that maybe this wouldn't be that bad of a school, and I might not have to stop my little midnight rendezvous with the mirror for our acting dates.
