Just keep running. Don't look back. It's late for them now. Survive this.

Mystic ran. She didn't know how far or for how long, she just knew she should keep running. She had to get away, she had to survive. She could hear groans wherever she went, groans of the undead who would tear her apart with no hesitation.

She had no idea how it happened. One day she was enjoying time at her home on a seemingly normal day, the next moment there were people being eaten alive, screams of people she knew, screams of her friends, her family.

"Oh my god" she whispered, covering her mouth to try and stop the loud sobs that were trying to force their way out of her mouth. They were all dead, but it wouldn't do any good to get caught either. She stopped running, tired and out of breath, as she noticed there were no walkers around.

She glanced around, looking for a weapon, and her eyes fell onto a mangled and bloody corpse. She almost vomited at the sight, but managed to hold it in as she covered her mouth once again.

She noticed that the corpse was holding a baseball bat, covered in blood. She took a deep breath and plunged her hands forward, gagging at the terrible smell as she pulled the bat out of the dead body's grasp.

She let out a sigh of relief, it was almost a comfort to have a weapon in this newly made hellhole. A gun would've been better, but she wasn't in America, so there was no chance for her to find one. Finding a long-range weapon would be a task for later, the main focus was finding food, water and shelter, maybe even an ally.

"I knew I should have watched the walking dead." She murmured, glancing left and right as she walked through the quiet streets. A sudden scream shattered the silence. It sounded like a girl, maybe around Mystic's age.

She hesitated. Running towards danger could potentially get her killed, but she could also gain an ally if she saved this girls life...

She decided to help, the chance of gaining an ally had convinced her. She ran towards the source of the noise and spotted a girl with long brown hair fending of a walker with a trash can lid.

She screamed again as the walker swiped away the lid from out of her hands. Mystic ran towards them, almost screaming herself, in anger or in fear, she wasn't sure. She smashed the baseball bat down onto the skull of the repulsive creature. She smashed it again and again and again, until it was a bloody mess.

As she looked towards the girl she had just saved, she saw her backing away in fear, ready to scream again. "Don't scream." Mystic said calmly and firmly, "you'll attract more of them. If you come with me, we can work together. Get shelter and food, find more people."

The other girl nodded. "What's your name?" She asked quietly, still hesitant. "I'm Mystic, and you are?" "Gio." "Gio," Mystic repeated, "nice to meet you." Her face paled as she heard a chorus of groans, "now run if you want to live."

And so Mystic ran once again, this time with Gio beside her. "A car!" Gio yelled, "The keys are still in the door!" Mystic and Gio both ran quickly towards it, Mystic checking the back of the car for any zombies.

"All clear!" She said, sliding into the passenger seat and shutting the door as Gio turned on the engine and shut her own door. "Do you know how to drive a car?" Mystic asked worriedly.

"Nope!" Gio answered, slamming her foot down on the pedal, "Let's hope I'm a fast learner!" Mystic screamed as they sped down streets and dodged walkers that were roaming the city.

"We need to find shelter!" She yelled over the loud roar of the car's engine. Gio nodded, "I think I know the perfect place. Hold on, this might get bumpy!"

After twenty minutes of sonic speed driving and Mystic praying to a god she didn't even believe in, they arrived. "An abandoned pizzeria" Mystic said, staring almost in despair at the gloomy building in front of them.

Gio looked Micky embarrassed, "it's not likely to have anyone there, and it's far away from any zombie infested towns. "Fine" Mystic sighed, "but this is because we don't have anywhere else today. Any ideas on what to do next?"

"I say we get some sleep tonight, then tomorrow we can check out some shops in the nearest town and get some supplies, finding others might be good as well" "Good plan. Now how to get in..."

They both thought about this before Mystic remembered the baseball bat. She opened the car door and pulled out the bat, now covered in even more blood and zombie flesh.

"Eww" Gio said, voicing Mystics very thoughts. Face tinted green, Mystic held in vomit once again and walked towards the metal doors that were blocking them from entering the one place that could be safe.

She smashed down on the doors, surprised to find that the doors fell to the ground easily. Gio picked up a crowbar that was lying near the entrance and they both slowly made their way into the pizzeria.

"This place gives me the creeps" Gio whispered, shivering as she looked around at the damp walls infested with spider webs. "And to think this used to be a place for kids." Mystic said in disbelief, grossed out by the rat that had just ran past her feet.

They searched around the whole pizzeria, coming across no other living people, zombies or humans. "Right. We should be safe for tonight. Maybe we should take shifts?" Gio nodded, "you sleep first." She said, "I'll keep an eye out for a couple of hours, then we can swap."

Mystic nodded, normally you wouldn't let strangers watch you sleep, but this was this end of the world, there were no rules now.
