"Happiness does not always come in the form of a rainbow after the rain. Sometimes, it has to be in a state of being able to sleep in the presence of a storm"

I was supposed to stay hidden, inside my comfy cabin. Binge watching on Netflix and ordering pizza or any other fast food. The cleaning lady visits every Wednesday, and I know how to wash dishes using the dishwasher. I also like to take baths and brush my teeth. I was well off.

But something about this night made me stroll in the woods

In the middle of the night, and in the midst of a storm

As the strong wind continues to hit me strongly like my ex girlfriend, I kept on walking the lone path to the fountain

"Well, there goes my umbrella" I was finally drenched, my trusty yellow umbrella now residing on top of a tree, making this walk harder than you know

Left, left, left, right, left

The ground beneath my feet is as soft as a pillow, each step I took disappeared with every drop. I finally saw what I came for. The fountain, with its stupid statue of a mermaid kissing a man, gave me chills. Lightning was my only source of light, and if I only had the gift of art, I would paint this haunting scene and sell it for a hefty price.

Branches and leaves were scattered all over. I felt something brush behind me, only to look back and see nothing.

"Why?" I asked and closed my eyes. There was a presence

Of a being

I followed my instincts and walked, finally stopping when I was satisfied by

I slowly opened them, and the blur was slightly longer before my sight became clearer. In front of me, was a body. Her body was in a grotesque position, and the way her blood exited each wound would traumatize the fainthearted.

Her dress was pink in some places, and she had no shoes on. Another round of lightning struck the vicinity, giving me more light and time to watch her.

I touched her face, which had a clean cut wound. Cold, very cold

Fear, I can smell fear

She should've been dead, but as I looked at her better, I knew she was alive, barely

There is no time to ask questions, there is only her, in this place, and if I wanted answers-I have to keep her

The cabin door was open, just as I left it. Whoever left her here might still be around. Taking no chances, I closed the door, praying whatever lock I have is sufficient enough to buy me time.

"Time for a total lock down" I said to particularly nobody

The products of being alone, you talk to yourself more than the average person would

Once I reached my room, I opened my closet. The back of it was made of Magnesium Alloy. Only a total fool would think it's a design. The smell of metal made the girl squirm in my arms

"Shh, you're safe" I couldn't stop myself, I touched her forehead and she instantly fell back into unconsciousness

My pocket watch kept pressing on my skin uncomfortably. I took it out and pushed a button. The key's body clicked into place. Pushing the right buttons and pressing the key, I stood back and watched the door open slowly.

I should really change the setting, it was too dramatic for my taste

Once I closed the door with my foot, I laid her down on the glass table. After years of making people bleed and bleeding myself, I know I have sufficient knowledge in treating wounds. A pity for her beautiful face, marred by blade. Then again, when you look closer, that wound on her innocent face made her more mysterious.

Three happy birthdays later, I fixed the materials I need to use. There was a stab wound in her thigh, below her knee and a long wound on her left leg. Her hands had scratches that were still bleeding.

"You'll be fine" I whispered in her ear and started cleaning each wound. Five hours later, and I finished stitching her face. Taking the spare clothes I have in my closet, along with my Mum's new undergarments, I dressed her in dry clothes and deposited her on the bed

Pale, she's very pale. I couldn't smell her scent, nor was there a waft of blood around her. Whatever it was drowned when I covered her body with my blanket.

"Try to sleep a little longer, little one" I smiled and exited the room

It will take a long time before I get my answers, but I am willing to wait

My curiosity will be quenched

For now, patience
