~Part 2~ - Chapter II - He comes out to play

Gabriel stays looking down at Heaven for a little bit longer, watching Wolf, Joker, Pup and Valentine running from the barracks, shouting orders as they run and the people who were enjoying the day jumping into action to do the jobs that they have been trained to do ... It wasn't always like this, if this attack had happened a couple of years ago, everyone would have been running around like frightened rabbits, but after endless training and test twice a month, Heaven turns from a few hundred people enjoying the sun to, what seems like one huge machine, like all the cogs in a clock working together to make it tick. Gabriel smiles to himself then turns to face Eve who was looking out over the other side of the wall, straining her eyes to see the attack force who have now stopped and guarded themselves in the huge stadium thing a couple of miles away, I think people used to kick an inflated ball in there for enjoyment??? But I could be wrong; I mean who would want to watch that??? I have read it was called Ballfoot or something ... sounds stupid.
Gabriel walks next to Eve and places his hand in hers; she rests her head on his shoulder and sighs
"I was starting to think this day wouldn't ever come" Gabriel moved his head and kisses her forehead
"This day was inevitable Eve" he turns and holds both of Eve's hands, moves with one swift motion, leans in and kisses her lips, and for one small moment there was no wall or battle, there was just them, only for a moment ...
"Gabriel, sorry to break up what looks like such a cute moment, but you are needed at the watch tower" Gabriel turns to see Wolf back from rounding up the security
"The security sorted???" Gabriel asks, walking towards Wolf
"I wouldn't be back if it wasn't, the evacuation is under way, into those god damn tunnels" Wolf turns away and spits off the wall
"Ahhhh, now we have hit the nail on the head" Gabriel smiles again and Eve moves behind him, slipping her hand in his
"I don't know what you mean" Wolf says, turning to start to walk towards the one of many watch towers along the wall ... like seriously ... I do think these Goths went a bit OTT with all the watch towers ... they have, like, 12 of them ... in truth about 5 are just old buildings that have merged with the wall ... but that is, still, another 7 that were made for the hell of it ... anyway, sorry, had a rant ...
"You know exactly what I mean Wolf" Gabriel says, struggling to keep up with the pace of Wolf "you don't like the tunnels for one reason and one reason only" Gabriel grabs Wolf's arm and spins him to see his face "you don't like Lucifer" Wolf pulls from Gabriel's grip and glairs at him
"If that was any other man, they would have been thrown off this wall" Gabriel looks at Wolf then smiles
"Its lucky I'm not another man then" Gabriel taps Wolf on the chest "Now admit it, you don't like him do you ???" Wolf spits off the wall again, sighs then turns again to start walking, with Gabriel and Eve following
"No, Gabriel, I don't like him" Wolf turns his head slightly to see Gabriel's expression then gets a shock to see Gabriel is still smiling, he stops and spins again, facing Gabriel "why are you smiling?"
"I really don't know a person who does like him Wolf. I don't like him, but I respect him" He looks at the facial expressions Wolf was pulling and smiles again "we wouldn't be here without him Wolf, that's the reason we made the tunnels, a backup plan, just in case this happens, trust me okay?" Wolf holds his hands up in surrender, looking at Gabriel and Eve
"I didn't say I didn't trust you, I'm just saying" Wolf starts
"I know what you are saying" Gabriel states, a voice of authority, Wolf steps back a little, un nerved by the sudden mood change
"Sorry Gabe, I spoke out of turn" Wolf turns to start walking again, Gabriel put's his hand on his arm again
"Never apologise for speaking your mind Wolf, you are a straight talker, that's why you trust you so much, we will talk about it again okay?" Gabriel smiles and Wolf, who, against his best intentions, smiles back.
The group gets to the nest, moving past Crow's who are looking out and shouting orders, moving to better vantage points and sorting out the wall defences, because you can't have a wall without defences can you? These range from bows and arrows, to the odd heavy machine gun looted from the surrounding area. The nest itself is quite tidy, this one in particular was the reminisce of a very old office building, one side of the nest being what used to be a few windows but all the glass had shattered years before, now just a look out with a few barricades for protection and three doors, one that Gabriel had come though, one to another part of the wall and one to ground level, this nest was commanded by Will, the person in charge and someone not to be messed with, she, yes she, run's a very tight ship and Gabriel thinks that Pup made a very good choice with her.
"What you see Will" Gabriel asks walking beside her, Wolf and Eve standing behind
"The Chavs have moved into cover at the old stadium, I saw Valentine moving out with two of her best, I guessed you would be up here sooner or later" she turned and smiled at Gabriel, Eve tensed a little behind them, Wolf noticed and took some binoculars from another Crow
"What weapons we talking?"
"Mostly automatics from what we saw before they moved into cover, some heavy but not enough to take Heaven" Will moved from looking at Gabriel and glared at Wolf, knowing what he had done and why "where is Pup?"
"Here" as if on cue, Pup runs from the door leading from the ground and stops beside Gabriel, panting a little she nods at Will who salutes her and stands at attention "Gabe, we have had a look around the perimeter and it isn't good, we have two more groups of Chavs at the north and east wall, both of equal size, Valentine has sent two more groups to check those out" Gabriel swears under his breath, hates that it has come to this, Eve slips her hand into his, calming him a little "that isn't all, we have two armoured trucks and a few buses at the south wall, it seems like this isn't just an attack"
"They are wanting to take prisoners" Wolf finished, cracking his knuckles "oh, if they think they are taking me alive, they have another thing coming" Gabriel smiles at Wolf, knowing that was the reaction he was going to get from that news, a break of static and a voice coming from a walkie-talkie breaks the silence
"Gabe come in" Valentine's voice sounded worried, Gabriel didn't like it at all
"I'm here Val, what's the news" Gabriel moves away from everyone, he wanted to hear this news himself before passing it to everyone else, the group part to let him pass but keep watching, even a few of the Crow's turn to listen
"We have a problem, a big fucking problem" Valentine is panting, gun shots sounding in the back ground, that was also wrong, Valentine is never seen, what has happened?
"Keep going Val, what's happened" Gabriel is trying to keep his cool but it is suddenly getting very hot in this nest
"Gabriel it's Him. He is here and He has brought the worst of the worst. I repeat He is here, He has joined the fight" It took everything Gabriel had to not drop the walkie-talkie.
