I watched La La Land recently, the end made me think about what success really is. Is it having a big car? Millions of people worshipping you? Your face on a billboard, your album selling a million copies? I mean honestly, we talk about how we want to be successful all the damn time, but do we even know what we're referring to? Do we even stop to consider how other people might not see your vision of success as successful? That's when I realized something;
Success is all in the minds eye.
What you believe to be succeeding, is not the only way of doing so. A lot of people might think that this is obvious, how success is merely your own perception on doing something with your life, but I'm only 12, so this was kind of a big deal to me. Picture yourself being successful. What do you see? What does it feel like? What sounds do you hear, what are the smells? Is the thought of getting a masters in physics your idea of success? Cool. Or is it something bigger, opening up a coffee shop, becoming platinum-selling a musician, maybe even writing a book? I mean honestly, success is just the product of what you are working for non-stop. It's what you think will complete your life, make you whole, make you have meaning, a definition, a title, or place on this Earth.
And that could be fucking ANYTHING you want it to be.
Is it having children?
Going to space?
Finishing college?
Being an Olympian?
Whatever it is, remember that once you are what you want to be, you are ultimately the most successful person in the world
