February 2014

[Present day]

The cold twilight wind nipped at my exposed skin, numbing away my current injuries that had forced me to the ground. A fragmented mirror scattered before me reflected back my bloodied body and the golden shards flecking my blue-green eyes.

A pain at my collar bone not only reminded me it was probably broken, despite healing quickly, but the 7 prong elemental seal that contained my demon bite and wolf mark was growing more unstable from over use. If I kept this up I would either be a fully turned werewolf or killed by the demon bite, it was a concern but not my greatest at the moment.

With great difficulty I rose to my feet, holding my right shoulder to stop the pain that stabbed through that arm.

I had to find my team.

My friends.

Needed to make sure they were all ok. Make sure they were alive.

Each step was a reminder of the limits my body had surpassed.

Solia and Aurora's egos circled around the edges of my consciousness, giving me strength but reminding me that the battle may be over but the war was very far from won.

For the hundredth time that past hour I asked myself, how the hell did we all get into this mess?
