11: Collide Part 2
Kiylee's POV
The blue eyed man had been holding me against the brick wall of the ally with his lips locked against mine until Jaysen's wolf form ripped into him and separated us. The force of their collision knocked me back into the wall. I watched as the blood from their impact danced threw the air, the glistening orbs moving gracefully. But that was shortly lived because the back of my head forcefully made contact with the brick wall behind me and I slid to the cemented alley way with a ringing in my ears and white spots in my vision.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"One, two, buckle my shoe. Three, four, open the door. Five, Six, pick up sticks. Seven, eight, lay them straight."
I blinked as the world around me became familiar and cozy. Before me a young girl with bouncy pigtails and a pink jumper played hopscotch. The more I focused on the scene before me the more details became visible. Sitting on a swing 20-30 feet away from pigtails was a dark haired girl all by herself. Her head was down, her clothes were a size too big, her hair was a messy dark brown braid, and her feet dangled above the ground. She momentarily pulled up the sleeve of her long shirt to run her fingers over her forearm and for a brief moment her exposed skin showed the marred circular burns of cigarette buds. She sat there limply swinging back and forth by the will of the wind. I took a step closer but I could tell I already knew the girl. She was me when I was 7 years old. And this was the day I ran away from my first foster parents and when the cops picked me up that night on the side of the street they placed me in a new home after seeing the burns on my arms.
Paralyzed by the memories that I had managed to forget for so long, I watched as my past unfolded before me.
Someone kicked a soccer ball and it bounced off a post for the swing set, stopping right next to the girl on the swing. The girl looked up at the ball terrified. Quickly a lankly black haired boy in a red shirt ran towards the swing set. "Hey, kick me the ball!" He bellowed towards the swing set girl.
For a few seconds the girl looked at the soccer ball with complete bewilderment before slowly sliding from the swing and kicking the ball way past the boy running at her. It zoomed by his head, narrowly missing him, and he froze in amazement looking at the girl with wide sky blue eyes.
The soccer ball rolled at landed at another black haired boys feet, this one wearing a teal colored shirt that brightly complemented his forest green eyes. The boy with the teal shirt punted it at the boy wearing a red shirt, hitting him in the back of his head.
"JAYSEN! You are so going to get it!" The boy wearing a red shirt growled.
The teal shirted boy, Jaysen, grabbed is stomach laughing while walking towards the swing set. "Guess you shouldn't have been so distracted by a girl kicking better then you, Cloud."
As I watched the scene unfold I realized that this Jaysen was the very same Jaysen I knew now and a strange feeling started to whirl inside of me.
"A stupid girl cannot kick better than me!" Cloud yelled back at the boy.
"Be nice Cuz, she might kick you like a soccer ball if you say mean things." Jaysen answered.
"You're only saying that because you think she is cute and probably want to marry her some day. Which is gross because she has koodies." Cloud growled back at his cousin and as he did so I could see his blue eyes gleam with a few flecks of gold.
The 9 year old Jaysen's face turned beet red for a few seconds while he thought of a response. "So what if she has koodies, she is still better at kicking a ball then you."
The younger girl silently stared at the fighting boys with wide eyes before turning and taking off across the park into the darkening streets of the city.
"The world has a funny way of making sure certain puzzle pieces fall together, even if it takes a while for them to finally be placed." I looked to my left to see a dark haired women looking at me. She had one indigo eye and one ocean green eye that matched my own.
The white dots started to fill my vision again and the ringing returned to my ears.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I blinked away the dots from my vision and rise to my feet. It was difficult and the world felt strangely lopsided.
Something brown darted past me with a snarl before joining the two black wolfs growling and snapping at each other. With a snapping crackle the brown creature morphed into a tall, lean, and muscled female that reached out and grabbed each black wolf by the scruff with her hands and forced them to opposite sides of the ally way with a thud.
Both black wolves shifted back into similar looking dark haired boys. Jaysen side stepped next to me with his shoulders stiff. His eyes narrowed and a tenseness radiated off of him that was clearly visible in the way his jaw was locked together and his temple twitched. He was bleeding badly from his left arm and a cut on his cheek that would heal quickly. But the way his body shook and the way he was holding himself worried me. He was never the type be anything less than cool and collected.
I reached forward and grabbed his left forearm with both my hands needing something to help steady my uneven balance and wishing it would help calm him. At my touched Jaysen's temple stopped twitching but he still continued to hold his shoulders with unease.
On the other side of the ally way the other dark haired werewolf continued to glare at Jaysen and myself with his glazed over eyes. Looking at him from a distance I noticed the red swirls that circled around his neck resembling a collar. On his right hand was a distinct three spiral interconnected mark of the wind element, glowing a faint yellow. It resembled the circular sun-like mark on my own hand which represented light. But this mark was surrounded by scarred and necrotic flesh, as if the seal of the element disagreed with its placement. Circling around the symbol and damaged skin was another interlaced assembling of red swirls that matched the collar around the blue eyed man's neck.
"What is the meaning of this wolf." The brown haired she-wolf spoke with an authoritative tone. "Why are you attacking those aligned with the council?"
A chuckle sounded from down the other end of the alley way making every single hair on my body stand on end. We all turned our heads to see a man draped in black, with a blank black and white mask covering his face, slowly approaching us. He snapped his fingers and spoke. "Cloud, sit."
The blue eyed man kneeled on one knee with his head down towards the masked man.
The masked man reached forward and touched Cloud's head with his hand as if he was a pet. "It's amazing how well he listens now that he's been properly trained."
