Chapter 4

“So are you going to the game tonight?” Mason asks as we sit in class. The teacher gave us some worksheets to keep us busy while he plays games on the computer.

“You know Mandi. I’ll be dragged there to watch you play.” I think back to last year. Every time she would ask me if I wanted to go to the game, I’d say no. Not because I don’t like football because I do. If I could play football I would. But it’s because I have to sit there and explain the game to her. You would think she would know how to play by now but nope.

“You know you wanna come. Besides Nick will be there.” He says wiggling his eyebrows.

Neither he nor Mandi know about the other night. It’s been killing me that I can’t tell her. That’s what a best friend is for. Who am I supposed to spill the beans about him being an amazing kisser? I certainly couldn’t tell Mason.

“So? What do you want me to do go up and kiss him?” I could see it now. He’d probably be pissed that I did that.

“Yeah. He’d think it’s hot. He’d probably wanna do you right there.” My face blushes thinking about Nick and I doing…things.

“Get your mind out of the gutter you pervert. I was just kidding. Though, he would find it hot, I don’t think you should do it. Considering you’re in high school and he’s a cop. Even if you are 18.”

The bell rings before I can answer him. But I don’t really care. I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I quickly get all my things and go to the bathroom.

I open the phone to see it’s from Nick.

Nick: I can’t stop thinking about you. I hate to say it but you should skip and come here. I can take off.

He’s such a good role model.

Me: I wish I could. Mandi would know something is up. Besides we’re all going out to eat before the game remember? You’ll see me then.

I quickly send the message and walk off to second before I’m late.

“What took you so long?” Mandi questions as soon as I sit down.

“Potty break.” I reply. My phone vibrates again.

Nick: That’s too long to wait. And I won’t be able to kiss you.

I laugh. Mandi looks at me like I’m stupid. I mouth back ‘mom’ and that I’ll tell her later.

Me: You’re a cop. Aren’t you supposed to be telling kids to stay in school and what not?

I wait a few minutes before he replies.

Nick: Baby, you ain’t no kid. I found that out when I almost did you on the couch. There’s nothing about you that’s kidlike but your personality at times.

I place my head on the table to keep Mandi from see my face becoming a tomato. I can’t believe he just said that. The memories of that night play back in my head. I can’t help but think about all the things I wanna do to him.
