I stare at the people in the large room, their eyes open and filled with confusion. I guess this is where all of the Elementalists gather... But why was I late? What if I end up just a regular human and get sent back?
"Hi." No one answers. Welp these guys are a bunch of friendly people! All I can do is awkwardly walk towards the group, keep on my eyes glued to the floor. Finally, one of the grown-ups who was dressed in a deep blue robe decided to speak up.
"Why are you so late? No one has ever been late in the history of the Elementalists. Are you sure you are one?" No.
"Erm. I-uh yea I'm an elementalist... *cough* at least I think I am. I just, uh, had a delay. Yea that's all."
I mentally facepalm myself for stuttering and I slowly stride to the back of the group. Whatever these guys were planning to do, I'm going last. I look over to the, I'm assuming teachers, who were grouped up and whispering about something. 99% sure it was about me, or my late arrival.
I can't really help it though, I'm a serious procrastinater, and I make it my job to somehow end up late no matter how much alarms I set. Back in school days I woke up 2 hours early and woke up at the first alarms. Let's just say video games got the best of me.
A voice suddenly speaks up from the whispering teachers, and i was expecting them to announce my execution. Instead I hear,
"Alright, we need to start on our tests since we were distracted by some," He pauses and looks at me as if it were my fault, "Difficulties."
Well fųck you too! I mean, I need to respect my uh teachers so I probably shouldn't cuss them out... even in my mind. Even though thats my main relaxing thing I do. If I'm mad at someone, I cuss them out in my head. Works every time.
I watch as a blond boy who was at the front of the group (that has now formed into a line without me noticing) walks up to the metal door of the giant room. Before he reaches out to open the door, an arm stops him in his tracks. The same teacher as before, with the blue robe speaks.
"Before we start, know that this room is a test, which enables us to know your element. You will go through a series of tests based on how long it takes for you to find your element. Some people are able to use their element on the first test. Others take multiple.
"You will not be harmed... permanatly.... But try your best to overcome the test." She turns to the boy who was watching with wide eyes and says, "Good luck."
The boy lifts a skinny arm to the door and opens it, stepping inside carefully. The teachers quickly file out to another room, probably to watch the tests. No one dares to speak, probably waiting for a scream.
Finally I hear a whoosh as the door flies open and the boy comes out with the biggest smile on his face. He walks to his friends and I hear a faint word: Water. Oh so he is a water elementalist. Hopefully I will be joining him soon to be a water elementalist.
Next came a ginormous girl with beefy arms and athletic legs. I didn't even know what I was looking at as I saw the giant red head step into the room like she was going to crush it.
Instantly she comes out again with a creepy grin and I hear: Fire. Figured that much. Sometimes you can just TELL. One by one more kids stepped in the room, some kids taking 10 minutes others taking 3.
A small petite girl with silver hair bounce out. One guess. Air of course. A big muscular boy that looks like he was on steroids. I'll give you 3 guesses and the first two don't count. Fire. A medium build boy with chocolate brown hair and eyes... Earth.
A tall boy with a thin but strong build. Water. Damn that guy looked like a complete jerk even from the back of the line. Tough luck.
About 20 kids were in front of me, and after almost 3 painfully slow hours, 2 naps while standing up, and 20 daydreams about nutella later, it was my turn.
The room was empty except for me and the teacher who was left in the room to call out one word: "NEXT!" Poor guy's throat must be tired. He opened his mouth to cough out his famous word one last time but stopped when I put my hand on his mouth.
"Don't waste my breath, I'm literally on the first step already." I give his throat a nice pat with my fingers and step up to the door leaving him standing there like and idiot with his mouth still open. Some teachers they have here.
I turn to the door after giving him my infamous "innocent little devil smile" and take a deep breath. This is it. Why do I feel like I have said those words before? I just hope I am a water elementalist. Oh and that it doesn't take me too long, I seriously need to catch up with the nutella that's in my bag right now. If you havent noticed, I really like nutella.
I reach out with my small hands and pull the door handle down. I quietly step into the room, tripping on the door frame that decided to stick out and meet my foot.
Catching myself on the wall I look up to the biggest room I have ever seen. Suddenly the lights came on and-
