Lauren POV
(I wrote this when I was on the road and had nothing to do, don't hate me, this is the first time I ever publish something)
It wasn't more than 6 pm as I walked through the incredibly cold streets of New York, the girls and I were just starting to finish writing and recording our new album here, leaving us to spend a few weeks or even a month in here
Sometimes I liked the big city and sometimes I didn't, I loved seeing how everyone was moving, I loved to see how people came here to chase their dreams, I liked the noise and the lights that would shine as bright as the sun at night, I loved running into fans, I love those things and many things more but like I said sometimes it wasn't that beautiful, sometimes it was incredibly stressful and today was one of those days
I could get frustrated in seconds when I couldn't get a note right or when I simply hated how it sounded and that was the only thing it was happening in the studio today, it wasn't one of my good days and it was okay to have a bad day in the studio once in a while but not in the day I was recording my solos, the few they gave me and I simply felt like I was fucking everything up, that's why I needed a quick escape and I knew the city would give me one
I had explores the city before, I had found a place that was of my liking in one of the quiet parts of the city, one of the parts of the city where the noise would stop and the amounts of crowds in the streets would be less and the best thing was that it wasn't that far from the studio, I took an uber and I was there in less than 15 minutes even with the 6 pm traffic that would be horrible in big cities, especially in this one.
The place was a restaurant mixed with a very chill coffee shop, the place was called "The Hideout" and even if it would be filled with people it was still a really quiet place, filled with fairy lights, books and paintings that would give The Hideout a really good vibe and the best thing was that no one recognized me every time I came, probably because most of them were way too more busy listening to The Strokes and things like that, I always came alone at this time of the day, most of the people who were there had just been out of their jobs and would be relaxing and one of the best things was the live music, at this times of the day a trio would come and play acoustic versions of pop songs and it would sound incredible.
As I walked inside the place the smell of food and coffee filled my nose making me want to stay there forever, I sat on one of the tables near the small stage they placed to make space for the multiple musicians that would fill The Hideout every day, I liked being near the music.
"Excuse me miss, my name is Marcos and I'm going to be your waiter today" A voice got me out of my thoughts as a boy got near to me, eh was dressed different than the waiters, he was dressed way more formal and usually waiters in here were less formal.
"Are you a waiter?" I giggled softly at Marcos as I thought as what I was going to order "And I will order the house special but without the cold coffee please, it's freezing outside".
"No" Marcos giggled back at me "I'm actually the assistant of the manager but the waiters are going crazy, they can't find the band that was going to play and perfect, I will not last a bit, I make a great fake waiter" He continued as he wrote everything on the small notepad he had on his hand and went away
It was a bummer that the bad wasn't able to make it but they usually filled the space incredibly quickly, they would either bring up a slam poet or another musician that wasn't frequent to the place
I was way to lost in my thoughts to notice when a girl came up to the stage with a guitar case on her hand, I immediately placed my attention in her, she looked like she had been running but she still looked really pretty, who was this girl? And why I didn't have seen her before?
