More Than Jaws

Chapter Seven

It has been about two weeks since the shark attack. I have not gone cage diving since, because I realized I wasn't ready and to make things worse my mother and I got in a huge fight about her not being able to trust me anymore and how she can't believe I didn't obey her. So yeah, things are pretty stressful in my life right now...im doing a ton of research work on female Great Whites because we have no idea why that one shark attacked jamie.

Thankfully Jamie is recovering pretty good. The doctor says it should be pretty much healed in about two more weeks and according to Jamie the pain is starting to get better too so everyone and I are relieved. Oh and remember how Dustin and I were really in to each other? Yeah that didn't work out....I'm going to explain it all to you.

Flash back!!

I got up from my nap and realized it was almost seven at night.

"Chang how long have I been asleep for?". I asked as I rubbed some sleep from my eyes. As I stretched my arms I yawned obnoxiously loud.

"Well you fell asleep since one I'd say. Your mom got pretty annoyed but i insisted her on letting you get some sleep. You look a lot better.". He said to me, his lips curling into a smile. I made a face at him as I got up to inspect my hair. It wasn't as bad as I imagined which is always a plus.

"I don't look as bad as I thought I did!". I smacked his arm playfully and realized that as much as we drive each other crazy I miss hanging out with him.

"Do you have any plans tonight?" Chang raised his eyebrows at me looking surprised. I guess I can't blame him.

"Not that I know of why?"

"Do you want to walk around in town for a bit grab something to eat?" Thankfully we just finished another one of our expeditions so we actually get to relax for a few days and get to sleep In a hotel.

My parents are cutting the crew some slack because we did a really awesome job at tagging the sharks. Brian tagged about fifteen Hammer Head sharks which is awesome because we need to find more information on them. And we're still keeping track on our other Great Whites. They traveled all the way to Hawaii from here!! It took them awhile to get there but they made it. One of the sharks that we kept track of ended up getting pregnant so I'm very excited to find out when our computer will say when she's due. Then we can learn more about the sharks reproductive system and all that fun stuff.

I realized that Chang hasn't answered me and I turned around from looking at myself in the mirror waiting for his response.

"Sure, we need to have some fun just us two," Chang said. I smiled and went into my room to get changed and to brush my hair out. I decided on wearing a pair of shorts, thinking this is Key West so it's still going to be pretty hot out, with a bright blue tank top. I put on some light blue eyeshadow and a little mascara just to look nice. Not too much makeup but enough to make my eyes stand out.

After I was finished with that I slipped on my pair of purple flip flops and felt excitement in my stomach. It has been so long since I was able to go out and have a good time, for once sharks not being on my mind. before I went to let Chang know I was ready I knocked on my mom's room quietly. I heard her mumble "come in" and I gently opened the door.

"Mom are you still sleeping?"

"Yeah but I've got to get up in a few minutes. Why what's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong, mom. I wanted to let you know that Chang and I are going to spend some time together in town. I wanted to make sure it's okay."

"With who? Chang? Yes that's fine just don't be out too late. We have to do a lot of research tomorrow." My mom said to me during her long yawn.
