Stephanie muffled a strangled sob with her hand as she slid down the bathroom wall, staring down at the object in her hand. Tears clouded her vision and she buried her head in her hands, dropping the small stick in her lap. Her small figure curls into itself, half to hide herself from the world and half to involuntarily protect her stomach.
Oh god, I can't do this! I'm not ready! I can't! What if he doesn't want it? We are so busy right now. We don't have time! I'll just become a burden to him...
A knock on the door brought Stephanie out of her thoughts. She scrambled up, shoving the stick in her bra and quickly drying her eyes. Stephanie looked at herself in the mirror. Her dark hair was tangled from running her hands through it, her normally bright eyes were now dull and cloudy. She knew she couldn't let Matthew see her like this or he would immediately know something was up.
"Steph? Are you okay in there?" Matthew called softly through the door.
No. I am no where near okay.
"Yeah, I'm fine! I was just about to take a shower." Stephanie answered, trying to put on a cheery voice like normal so Matthew wouldn't worry. The setting sun shown through the window and illuminated her tear stained face. She squinted and brushed at her cheeks again, wiping away any tears that had reappeared.
"Okay." Matthew easily saw through the fake cheeriness though. He knew her well enough to detect the subtle quivering of her voice. He quickly realized she had been crying and his eyes widened with confusion and worry. What happened? Had he done something wrong? He hid his worries though, knowing that if she was lying, she clearly wanted to be left alone. She never lied to Matthew and that scared him. Once he heard the shower turn on he walked to their kitchen and sat down at his laptop to continue working. He tried desperately to focus on something else, anything else. He couldn't. As he worked one thought stuck in his mind.
Why was she crying?
(Small time skip brought to you by me being a giant nerd!)
Matthew sighed in defeat, knowing no more work would get done while he was this stressed and worried. The moon shown through the kitchen window and he looked at his phone. 9:04. He had to figure out what was wrong with Stephanie. He wouldn't be able to sleep otherwise. He buried his head in his hands, grasping at any idea he could think of. After a few minutes of coming up with nothing, he decide to go lay down, in hopes that Stephanie was there so he could hold her close and comfort her from whatever was making her so sad. He slowly walked upstairs to their bedroom and peered in. There on the bed, was Stephanie.
Her hair was down, perfectly outlining her gorgeous face. She was curled underneath the covers, seeming smaller than she already was. That was unusual for her. Stephanie tended to be self conscious about how petite she was and only ever curled up when she was snuggling with Matthew. Her small frame was quivering slightly, and Matthew rushed into action when he noticed this."Steph? Honey, what's wrong?" He asked climbing into bed next to her. She didn't say anything in response, just simply curled up to her husband, desperately seeking some kind of comfort. He pulled her close to him, wrapping his arms around her protectively, as if to shield her from the demons that were haunting her. She was still shaking, but not as hard as before. Matthew was scared. His wife was the strongest woman he knew and to see her so broken? It was terrifying. He lay there with he, running his fingers through her hair and softly whispering to her. The shaking eventually subsided and Matthew looked down at his wife. She had fallen asleep. He sighed and held her close. Whatever was wrong, they would get through this. Together.

"Hey guys! And welcome to an early morning GTLive!" Matthew exclaimed, starting the stream. Stephanie gave the camera a little wave and a fake smile. Because of meetings later in the day, Matthew decided that instead of canceling the stream they would just do an early one.
"Hey Steph, would you like to tell the viewers how they can interact with us?" Matthew transitioned, trying to sound cheery, but the worry seeped through his voice.
"You guys can engage with us in the chat, right over there, or on Twitter at #GTLive!" Stephanie trying to put on a happy facade, but her weariness from tossing and turning all night made it hard.
They started to play Super Mario Maker, but it was too late to switch the viewers attention. People had noticed how tired and broken Stephanie looked, and they were worried. The chat and Twitter were flooded with comments asking what was wrong and if Stephanie was okay. Just a few minutes later the viewers worries were proven to be warranted, as Stephanie unclipped her mic, covered her mouth with her hands, and rushed out of the room as fast as she could. Matthew sat, shocked for a second, before motioning for Jason to shut off the stream and rushing after her. He followed her footsteps to the bathroom, worry covering his face as he took in the scene.
Stephanie hovered over the toilet, throwing up the contents of this mornings breakfast. Her hair created a curtain around her pale, sweating face. Her small frame was shaking as another bought of hurling started, and Matthew rushed over to Stephanie's side. Quickly taking control of the situation, he pulled Stephanie's hair back into a messy bun and started rubbing her back soothingly. When she finished, she leaned into him, resting her head against his chest. Matthew slowly started to comb his fingers through Stephanie hair, all of the possible diagnoses running through his head. He eventually stopped himself when he noticed that Stephanie was crying into his chest. Matthew stopped combing his fingers through her hair and tilted her face up to look at him.
"Stephanie, baby, what's wrong? What has you so worked up. I've never seen you like this before." Stephanie's eyes widen before she squeezes them shut and looks down, hoping to avoid the question. Thoughts roamed around, putting her down.
He'll hate you.
You'll be worthless.
He'll leave you.
You'll be alone.
He doesn't love you.
At that Stephanie stopped. She knew that wasn't true. No matter what Matthew had always loved her. Stephanie took a deep breath. He deserved to know.
"I....I'm pregnant." Matthew froze in shock for a moment. This is what had her so worked up? Matthew smiled brightly and looked down at Stephanie.
"THAT'S AMAZING!!! I'M GONNA BE A DAD!!! WE'RE GONNA BE PARENTS!!!" Matthew hugged Stephanie tightly.
"You-You're not mad?" Stephanie looked confused.
"Oh course not!! This is great!! Steph!! I'm gonna be a Father!!!!!" Stephanie giggled at Matthew childish antics. She scolded herself for being so worried. She didn't have to be afraid, she would always have Matthew by her side.
