Chapter 1

Two years later, Age 11

It’s been two years since living with Roy and Riza and just last year I became a state alchemist, the youngest ever, now that day I was in trouble.

Flashback

I was walking down the hall towards Roy’s office in central command with a yellow envelope in my hand, I had just come from seeing the king Bradley about becoming a state alchemist so that I could find the people that killed my mum and find out if they were the once that toke my dad away before I was born. I walked into his office without knocking to find five new people in the room. I walked past them all as they stared at me right up to Roy and handed him the envelope. He opened it and quickly skimmed it before getting up and dragging me out of the room, Riza following. “What’s the meaning of this” he asked waving the papers around,” I knew you wound say no” I replied emotionlessly, “You bet I would say no shadow, your too young” he continued. At that Riza toke the envelope and read it herself before looking at me” this is about your past isn’t it shadow?” she asked, all I did was nod trying to not think about my past, the only thing they know is about the fire and me losing my left hand because at night I will remember what happened that night and start to talk about it while I was asleep. “Fine but for the rest of the week you will have to help Riza with all her work as a punishment for going behind our backs, got it” he said, “Yes Roy” I replied before doing just that.

End Flashback

“Shadow, we’re leaving now” Roy called from behind my closed door. I opened it and gave Riza a hug before following Roy to the train station. We were heading to the place I promised I would never return to, my home town, Resenbal. The train ride was quiet, but yet again I don’t talk in public so I was used to it. When we arrived I quickly looked in the direction of where my house would be if it was still there before following Roy who was walking towards the boy’s house. From the distance we could see the house being incased in purple light and I instantly knew what was going on, Human Transmutation but why, unless there mum died I thought before turning left and graving onto Roy’s arm and pulling him towards Winry’s house for I know that’s where they will go now. He looked at me weirdly not knowing what I know but followed and sure enough they were there, Ed in a bed with a missing arm and leg and Al in a suit of armed, the reason I knew that was because I could sense his soul.

“I’ve come here to see about the alchemist that sent this application in” Roy said while I just looked at everyone to see how much they have changed over the last three years. Ed was still short and everything was the same except his eyes, they looked lost and along, while Winry was scared and I could tell that she will be looking after him until he is better. Roy went on about being a state alchemist and said that the next one would be next year, at that point I couldn’t stop myself from walking over and hitting him over the head and saying “idiot” quietly leaving a shocked Ed and Roy. “K..Kira” he muttered, all I did was walk out pretending I didn’t hear him and lend back on the wall of the house waiting for Roy so we could leave.

On the train back to central he asked “Are you going to tell me what that was all about or is it going to be a mystery like the rest of your past?.” I shrugged before looking out the window just as we past my old home, a single tear escaping my eye, and it didn’t go unnoticed. “This town was your home town wasn’t it?” he asked, I nodded, “So those boys, you know them” he continued and I nodded again and he left it at that.

Thru-out the year I did simple missions around central, from catching murderers to catching robbers. At the moment I was looking for two brothers that have been killing all over central and they go by the name, the slicer. I had figured out there pattern of killing and was waiting at the next location where I hoped they would be and I was correct. I was walking down the street at night in my normal cloths, black pants and a red top when I was pulled into an alleyway by the youngest brother. “Hay look at what we have got here older brother” he said, “Someone pretty to carve up, I see” he replied. As they pulled out a big carving knife each I sent my shadows out and made them grave the men and tie them up before they even noticed. “What’s going on?” the oldest one asked, me being me I just ignored them and started to drag them to the prison next to laboratory 5. As I arrived the guards came out and cuffed them before saying “Thanks again Shadow, if it wasn’t for you we would be screwed” before dragging the two men it.
