Jess's POV.

Luna and I got ready for our date that night. Luna seemed excited, but I felt slightly on edge.

I sat at our shared makeup table, meticulously applying my metallic silver eyeshadow, paying close attention so as to avoid making a mistake.

"Jess," Luna said, but I didn't hear her; my anxiety was eating me alive.
"Jess!"
"What? What?" I said as I snapped out of my daze.
"What are you so apprehensive for? Loosen up a little."
"I'm nervous, Luna," I whined. "What if Slash doesn't like me?"

"Why the hell wouldn't he like you? You two totally hit it off," she said, trying to reassure me. I frowned at her.
"Luna, babe, I lost my shit. I hardly spoke. I froze. What if I panic on our date and he thinks I'm a freak?"

"He won't think you're a freak. Be confident, and strut like the sexy beast you are," she said. I burst out laughing.
"Ha, thanks Luna." I finished my eyeshadow, and applied 5 or 6 coats of jet black mascara to my lashes. I finished my makeup look by swiping my favorite red lipstick over my lips, and finally walked over to the closet to pick an outfit.

"Hey Luna, does this look okay?"
I'd put on a distressed Jack Daniels whiskey label t-shirt, a little black skirt, ripped tights, and my worn-out Chucks.
"Dammmmnnnnn," she said, turning away from the mirror. "Who's that rocker girl over there?"
I blushed a little, and smiled. Noticing the silence, I walked over to our turntable and put one of Luna's Bon Jovi records on.

"So what are you wearing?" I asked, plopping down on my bed and grabbing a copy of Rolling Stone magazine off my nighstand.
"Not sure," Luna said as she applied her eyeliner, focused. "I was thinking I'd wear my red flannel dress with the leather straps, my ripped black tights and boots."

"That'll be cute," I said, flipping through my magazine. I felt slightly more at ease, and maybe even a little excited.

Luna's POV.

We walked a couple of blocks down the street to meet the boys. Jess had calmed down, and she seemed excited about our double date with the boys.

They stood on the sidewalk, the both of them leaning against an old Cadillac, which I assumed was Steven's.
"Hey Luna!" Steven yelled out when he saw us, and my heart thumped in my chest.
"Hi Jess!" Slash yelled, excitedly. Jess scuttled behind me, her crippling shyness kicking in at full force yet again,  and I shrugged. "Hey guys!" I yelled back, excited.

Steven and Slash ran over to us, their eyes bright, smiles on their faces. Steven playfully wrapped his arms around me, and Jess slowly inched closer to Slash, a slight look of anxiety on her face.

"H-hi S-slash," she stuttered.
"Hey Jess. You look really cute," he said. He gently swept a little strand of hair behind her ear, and her cheeks turned a rosy shade of pink.
"You guys ready to head to the diner?" Steven said, his arm draped over my shoulders. We all nodded and got into the car, Steven and me up front, Slash and Jess in the back. I watched as Jess gently took Slash's hand and slid into the backseat with him, and I smiled to myself.

Slash's POV.

We had all piled into Steven's car and we were on our way to the diner.

Jess was holding my hand, and I felt so excited I could hardly contain myself. She was so beautiful, the way her dark hair fell around her shoulders, and her skin looked almost like porcelain.

"You look really nice tonight," I whispered to her, and she looked up at me and smiled.
"You look really nice, too," she said, her voice soft and sweet.

We pulled up to the diner, where Steven and I saw some familiar faces.

Luna's POV.

We pulled up to the diner and got out of Steven's car.

There were three guys sat up on the hoods of cars in the parking lot of the diner when we got there.

"Yo Slash! Steve! What's up, dudes?" yelled a strawberry blond that sat on the hood of a black fox body Mustang.
"What's up, Axl?" Steven said, nodding at him. The black haired boy sitting beside Axl whistled at us.
"And who are these cuties?" he asked, and Jess scuttled behind Slash.

"Guys, this is Luna," Steven said, gesturing to me.
"And this is Jess," Slash said, snaking his arm protectively around her waist.
"Damn, they're awful pretty," remarked the blond, who sat alone on the hood of a red corvette with a cigarette dangling from his lips. I could feel myself blushing a little, and I was certain that Jess was without even having to look.

"Luna, Jess, this is Axl," Steven said, pointing at the strawberry blond, "Duff," he said, and the blond raised his hand, "and last but not least, Izzy", he added, and the black haired boy waved at us.
"They're our bandmates, they go to school in the next town over," Slash said.

"Nice to meet you guys," I said, confident, and Jess shyly waved at them.

Jess's POV.

We walked inside the diner.

The place looked like it was stuck in the 60s; neon signs, cherry red interior, a soda fountain. It was pretty cool.

The four of us sat down in a booth, and a waitress took our orders. Slash, being the gentleman he is, ordered my meal for me; cherry soda, a hamburger, and fries. He gently laid his hand on my thigh, and I got cozy beside him; I was falling in love with him.

Steven and Luna sat opposite from us, laughing and joking with each other; I could tell that she was falling in love just as hard as I was. Luna had a look in her eyes that I'd never seen before.

Our food arrived, and we all cleaned our plates. Slash and I sat close together, quietly talking to each other; he was so beautiful. His curls fell in his face when he laughed, and he had the most beautiful brown eyes. When Steven and Luna were preoccupied with each other, he and I slipped into one of the empty bathrooms in the back.

He pulled a stainless steel flask and pack of Marlboro menthols out of his denim jacket, and leaned against the wall.
"Have you ever had Jack before?" he asked, glancing down at my Jack Daniels t-shirt. I shyly shook my head.
"Wanna try some?"
I nodded.

He gently held the flask to my lips as I took a sip, and I nodded in approval; it was spicy and a little bit stout, but I liked the taste. He lit a cigarette and put it between his lips, taking a long drag of it.
"Can I try it?" I asked, my voice shaky.
"You've never had a smoke before?" he asked. I shook my head.

He lit a cigarette for me and put it between my lips. I slowly let the smoke fill my lungs, and I choked up a little. He laughed.
"You're pretty cute." I blew my smoke into the air and smiled at him.

It felt like we'd been in the bathroom for ages. We finished our cigarettes, grabbed each other's hands, and he kissed me on the cheek as we walked out.

I was definitely in love.
