Chapter 1
Brielle
“MOM! Where is my sweatshirt? I need that, it is my favorite one!” I shouted from my bedroom. I am going to college next week at San Jose State University in Florida. Nobody that I know of is going to San José State University but I hope to find some new friends.
“Brody, where is Mom?” I ask my little brother.
He responds with, “How am I supposed to know?”
“Just tell her I am going to the park to take some pictures for my resume.” I say as I grab my keys and walk out the door. I hop into my 1950’s baby blue truck. I turn on the radio and start singing along to ‘Twenty One Pilots, Truce’ and pull out of the driveway.
When I arrive at the park I take pictures of the beautiful cascading trees, the swings that are abandoned, the freshly watered garden, and the little animals that seem to be playing hide & seek. As I am walking with my head in the clouds I run into someone and shout,
“Hey watch where you are goi-” I was cut short by the boy a few years older than me. He had the most deep brown eyes you could ever dream of, and the best smile I have seen in a while.
“I’m sorry, are you okay?” He asked with an adorable smirk.
“Yeah just a little startled, that’s all.” I got lost in his deep blue eyes that were protected by a thick coat of long lashes any girl would die to have. “Hel- Hi- Wha-” I can barely get words out of my mouth, “Brielle, my name’s Brielle. What is yours?”
“Braison. So what were you doing here?” he responds. I blush because I think that name is just so freaking adorable (and I am communicating with a cute person).
“I was just taking pictures for my college resume.” I answer as if I was in slow motion. I was still wondering why a hot guy like Braison would be talking to me.
“College huh? Where are you going?” Braison asks curiously.
“San Jose State University, I leave next week.” I say proudly. I should really get back to taking pictures but I think I can put that on hold.
“That’s not going to work,” He answers and I am so confused.
“What do you mean?”
“Long distance relationships don't really work out that well.” At this point I was going to flip out. Braison just made an attempt to flirt!
“So is this your lame attempt at asking me out?” I reply trying to hold back the flourishing smile on my face.
“Well- I- . . . Yes.” Braison says rubbing his hand on the back of his neck, looking down at the ground.
“I would be honored.” I say with a smile, “Do you want to go get a smoothie?”

“Two butterflies please.” I say as we order at my favorite smoothie place. “Oh, and a shot of wellness in one please.”
Braison had already sat down so I went to the table.
“So you like photography? Could I maybe see some pictures you have taken?” He asks.
I pull out my computer from my backpack, “Why not. Here is an album of some of my good ones.” I say as I scoot my laptop over to him.
“Ri, these are amazing!” He says as he is scrolling through the pictures.
“Did I just hear a nickname?” I ask jokingly, “That means you need one too!” I add with a playful shove.
“No, Brielle I don't think that is necessary.” Braison says a bit too loudly.
“Oh, but it is…” I think for a while, “Raisin!” I cover my mouth as quickly as I blurted out that stupid nickname.
“Hmm. Not bad Ri.”
“Not bad? That is ridiculous.”
“I think you should keep it, I have to go though. Thanks for everything, call me!”
"Catch you later Raisin!" I shout out at him grinning.
Braison briefly waves at me and I just smile and stare. God, I am so stupid sometimes.
I get in my car and cant keep my mind off of him. He is all I think about for the rest of the day.
As I am uploading my photos to my computer I see a picture I don't remember taking. It is of Braison. He must have taken a pic of himself when I went to the bathroom. He looks so cute which makes me wonder what makes me deserve him. How did I get a hot guy like him to like me? My mom walks in and I slam my laptop lid shut and she asks, “Bri, what are you looking at?” She grabs my computer and opens it up and a worried look grows on her face.
“Do you know this boy?”
“Yeah Mom, that’s Braison. I met him at the park and then we went out for a smoothie.” I say with a smile.
“So is he like, your boyfriend now or what?”
“I don't know yet. I will keep you posted though!” My mom was always the kind of person I could talk to about boys.
“Well I want to know this kind of stuff! When can I meet him?”
“We’ll see Mom.” I say, hoping that me and Braison can become an item. Just the thought of it makes me blush,(Oh yeah. Mom is still here!) “Bye Mom!” I say as I throw a pillow at her exiting silhouette.
