Brielle's POV
I wake up feeling wonderful. It is a weekend so that might be it, but mostly it is the thoughts of Braison. He is circling my head like the stars in the cartoons when a character gets hit in the head.
Going down the stairs I throw my hair up in a bun and enter the kitchen. I pour myself a bowl of cereal and rest my tired chin on my hand. As I put a spoon full of frosted flakes into my mouth I drop my spoon sending milk everywhere. I push back my chair and fly up the stairs to my computer to find Braison's number on my computer and smile back at his picture on the screen. I dial the number and wait eagerly.
Braison: "Hello?" He says in a froggy voice
Me: "HI!" I said in a super cheerful voice, "It's me, Brielle from the park."
Braison: "Oh hey Ri! May I ask you something?"
Me: "Rasin, you know you can ask me anything." I answer from my heart.
Braison: " Why are you calling me so early in the morning?" I shoot my eyes toward my clock and notice it is 5:30. ! Wow, way to use your brain Brielle!
Me: "Uhh-" I was cut off by him saying, "Meet me at our park. Bye Ri!"
Before I could respond he hung up. He couldn't really want to meet right now, could he? But he is Braison and who knows what is going on in that mind of his.
I leave a note on the kitchen table and try to make myself presentable. I try to multi-task by putting on a grey oversized sweater and skinny jeans on at the same time. That didn't end up too great, I fell over and hit my head on my desk. I immediately started bruising, but couldn't do much about it except throw on a pair of combat boots and get in my car.
When I arrive at the park, Braison is on the swings all alone.I walk up behind him, grab the chains of the swing and lean around him to say, "Hey, why did I have to meet you here?"
Do you not want to see your boyfriend?" He asked, but all I heard from it was boyfriend. The word kept echoing my head, but I shake it off remembering that he had asked me a question.
"Of course I do," I say rubbing my head, "just why at 6 am?"
"Well I figured since I was up, and you were up, we could meet up. Come swing with me! I bet you can't get up as high as me!" Braison says already starting to pump his feet. There was no way I was going to let him beat me so I quickly jumped on to the swing next to me and started pumping my legs as fast as I could.
"Challenge accepted!" I shout through laughter.
By the time both Braison and I were going as high as we could he said, "Jump on the count of three! Ready?"
I jokingly responded with "Never been more ready in my life!" We counted together, "One... Two... Three!" We sailed through the sky for only a matter of seconds, then plopped down next to each other in the grass. I don't know if it was because we were just too tired to move or what because we didn't get up. I started laughing, but after a while I realised I was the only one so I stopped.
"Ri, I love your laugh. It is so contagious and it fits your personality perfectly." Braison said. That makes my self esteem go through the roof because I have never been very confident about my laugh.
"Thanks Braison, that really means alot to me." I answer, looking up at the still dark sky. At this point we were laying really close to each other and I started getting butterflies in my stomach. I look over at him, but he is too distracted by the sky to notice. For a while I just lay on my back watching Braison look up into the sky.
Braison realizes I was staring and turns his head. He just smiles and puts his arm around my waist pulling me into the warmth of his chest. I rest my head in the crease of his arm and his torso and we watch the sun come up together. Now that it was getting later in the day, the occasional runner would jog past us.
All of a sudden I feel his warm perfect lips on my forehead and I have a million thoughts rushing around in my head at once. Braison is kissing me! Well, it isn't really a kiss but OMG it is happening! When he pulls back to look me in the eye I tilt my head back and steal a peck on the lips. We both sit up and I place my hand on the back of his neck and pull him in for a real, energizing first kiss.
It is just like the movies. It seemed as though the whole world had stopped and we were the only things that existed, that mattered.
We pull back at the same time, but press our foreheads together and smile. My phone starts to ring and I jump at the startling sound. It was my mom.
"Hello?"
"Hey Brielle. I have some news about your college aplication."
"Oh no," I take a deep breath and go sit on a nearby bench. "Just break it to me."
"You got in! You are you going to San Jose University!"
"No way!" I shout a little too loudly, "When do I leave?"
"I will give you all the details at home! Bye Sweetie! Love you."
"I love you too Mom."
"Braison, I made it! I am goi g to college!" I say as I run up to hug him. His comforting arms embrace me as he says, "wow, that's great Ri."
"What's the matter Rasin?" I question, "you don't seem happy."
"No that's not it. I'm overjoyed for you. It's just that I really wish I could be with you."
"I'm sory Braison, but this is college! I can't give it up for my boyfriend as much as I may want to right now. Come to my house and we can watch a movie." I grab his hand to bring him to my car but then he grabs my other hand so that we are face to face.
He asks, "Brielle, do you love me?"
I have no words so I just look at him with my mouth open like I was going to say something but forgot how. "When the time is right you can tell me." Braison says as we walk hand in hand to my car.
