She'd been away for far too long. Avi needed her home, Rayne needed to be with him. But duty called. Tied up at the office, Avi asked Mitch and Scott to look after his love while he worked. He put his plan into motion, finished the work and waited for the boys to bring her home to him.

The freeway was a mess, a literal nightmare to travel on. Why on the one day he had somewhere to go and something important to do did it have to be that way? Avi knew he should have left his house earlier, but he couldn't bring himself to get out of the bed. It was just so warm and comfortable there all snuggled under the heavy blankets. His bed still smelled like his love that morning even though she hadn't been there for several days. Rayne was returning just before noon but he would not be able to pick her up at the airport. He had to go to the office to deal with some legal stuff. That was his excuse anyhow, the reason he gave her for sending two of his best friends to meet her instead of picking her up himself. Avi hadn't necessarily  lied to her. He really did have to go into the office to handle some legal things, but it wouldn't take him very long. Scott and Mitchie would get her from the airport for him and keep her occupied for the afternoon. He had set several appointments for Rayne at the spa, well for them, and they would ensure that she was where she was supposed to be when she was supposed to be there. They were to have her home by 7pm. They would probably be late, he did tell them to take her shopping, that always took forever with Mitch. It didn't matter though, he had to be home by his deadline or things would not be ready. First, he had to get through this damn traffic. Avi's normal patient demeanor was slipping as he thought of all the things he had yet to do.

Mitch and Scott talked excitedly as they got ready to go. This was the first time ever that Avi trusted them with the care of someone special to him, so they had better be sure that they were not late getting her.  One phone call from Rayne and they would be in so much trouble. Avi would never trust them again with Rayne's care. Avi must have some real serious business to attend to if he was willing to skip out on picking Rayne up from the airport. They fussed over their hair and their outfits and finally settled on whatever was comfortable. After making sure  Wyatt had food and water and saying goodbye to him, they grabbed the packet Avi had given them for Rayne and headed out the door. They were all giggles and happiness.

It seemed like the worst travel day in the history of the world. Every other flight was experiencing some sort of delay. Luckily her flights had not been delayed and she would land on time. Just before she boarded her second flight that day she received a message from Av.

'Hey Darlin' I won't be able to meet you at the airport today. I have to go into the office to deal with some legal crap. I am so very sorry. Please forgive me. I have made arrangements for Mitch and Scott to pick you up and a few other things for you guys to do so your wait for me won't seem so long. They'll get you home. Have fun and don't let them convince you to do anything too crazy. ;P I'll be home about 7 tonight. Meet you there. I love you. 󐇩♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ Travel safe Babe.'
Rayne sent off a quick reply and started towards the gate as her row was called.

'Av, I love you too! I was hoping to see your lovely face first thing, but I guess the boys will have to do. I hope your work at the office doesn't take you too long. Maybe then we could see each other sooner. You know leaving me with them for too long is actually dangerous, don't you? 😂😂😂 Don't worry I'll behave. If I don't get to see you sooner, I'll see you at the house at 7. Just let me know. Love you so much! See you soon. ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡.'

She was admittedly a little unhappy that she would not be able to see Avi's smiling face the moment she walked out of the gate. It was always the highlight of travel. She guessed she could settle for some hang time with Mitch and Scott. She rolled her eyes at the thought and got on the plane. It would be a fun time. The boys were crazy. She chuckled to herself as she stowed her bag in the compartment. She'd have a good time for sure. She sat down buckled-up and fell fast asleep before the plane even left the gate.
