Chapter 3

Max's pov

One of the fangirls ran over and took Maria's spot. As if she was never there. She started staring at me and the rest of class was awkward.

There was more than one piece of paper that Maria dropped the letter from Lex was one... another was the drawings.

I can remember that day as if it were yesterday. I wish that death wasn't here. Why did she leave? What did Lila know? The bell rang again and we went to lunch.

"Hey Lila? What do you know about..... her?" I asked.

"Max, we haven't even sat down. Give me a moment," she snapped. We got lunch and me and Harvey sat down saving a seat for Lila.

But she didn't come. She sat next to the girl we saw at the park. I stood up and brought my tray, trey, over to Lila. Harvey followed.

"What do you want?" The girl spoke in annoyance.

"What do you know about her?" I asked getting mad.

"Ok, Max! Shut up, you don't need to know. If you know what she was going through you would've let her go too!" Lila cried out. A tear escaped her eyes.

"You let her go?" I yelled.

"Max, shut up it doesn.."

"No, it does matter! That was someone's life you just let slip!" Maria said. I don't know where she can from.

"Marissa, how about we meet up at the spot and talk about it later," Lila said to the girl. Marissa nodded.

"Tell us now!" Harvey demanded his voice deep and scary. Lila whispered something into Maria's ear all.I could make out was hate and cyberbullying.

Maria nodded as she wiped a tear from her eyes. "How do I continue on with life?" Maria asked.

Lila looked down and shrugged. Marissa walked away quickly as if she knew something also.

"Guys, please no secrets! I heard hate and cyberbullying, what's going on?" I asked.

"Max, forget about Maria. She is gone. Maria died with Lexi. This girl you see in front of you, she's the remains of a war. A war that Maria lost," Maria said walking away again.

"Maria please don't.." I begged as she put her finger on my lips.

"No, you please.. forget about us," Maria said.

"Yeah, you have your 3M fans to like," Lila said. Maria looked at Lila in surprise.

"Be realistic," She said.

"No, I am,"

"What? Come on? How?" Maria asked. She sounded like her old self there.

"They did it on musical.ly," Lila said nodding.

"There is no way tha.." Harvey interrupted her.

"It's true," He said. Maria glared at us and rolled her eyes. What is it with girls? She stomped off and Lila followed.

"What?" I said.

"The?" Harvey added.

"Heck?" I finished. We both shrugged but couldn't take Maria off our minds. What is it about her that makes me happy.

Just her presence made my day better. Her red hair added colour to the class. She was broken though, it was obvious.

I grabbed my phone out and decided to look at musical.ly. I had tons of notifications and I just ignored them.
