"See you, Babe." Dylan pouts, his tone somber. To be fair, you can only assume the pout based on the sound of his voice, the video call blurred and stuttering. He is off filming somewhere in a foreign country you have barely heard of before. The director has asked for some specific looking nature for the film they're shooting, and green screen just wouldn't do the vision justice. He doesn't know when he'll be coming back, but he won't make it for your anniversary. That's tomorrow, and they only started shooting a couple of weeks ago.
"Have fun, Dyl. I'll see you." You reply and hang up the call. You sigh, putting the phone down and zoning out for a few minutes. Being the girlfriend of an actor is harder than you had anticipated. It's not that he didn't warn you before you got together, the realities of some things are just always a bit different. There are long periods of time where you barely get to see him, but then there's also times where you get to spend weeks together with no disturbance. It's just a lot more irregular than a plain 9-5. But at the end of the day, it's all worth it. There's nobody else you'd rather spend your life with, no matter how much easier it would be. You glance at the time; it's only 9, but you decide to just head to bed. There's nothing of interest on TV and you don't have anything better to do anyway. Besides, this week has been rough. You might as well just get some sleep and enjoy your next few days off.

You wake up with two familiar arms wrapped tightly around you. You blink confusedly, turning yourself around. The sweet brunet beams back at you, blinking innocently.
"Good morning, Babe." Dylan murmurs in his hoarse morning voice. Something about the way his voice sounds in the morning, a rough and unarticulated mumble, it sends tingles down your spine.
"Dylan!" You whine, cuddling closely into him and burying your face in his neck. "What are you doing here?" he chuckles, holding you into him. He's so warm.
"I couldn't bear not seeing you for our anniversary. My director gave me a week off so I could go home," He explains, kissing your hair.
"I missed you so much already... and you've barely been gone for a month," you sigh, breathing in the divine smell of his cologne.
"I missed you too, Y/N. Come on, I made us breakfast!" he smirks, pulling back to look lovingly at you.
"When in the world did you even get here?" you question confusedly.
"Just about midnight, I think. I was going to surprise you, thought you'd still be awake, but when I knocked nobody answered. So I just went in, and I found you knocked out in bed. I figured you must have been tired, so I prepared some breakfast before going to bed myself. Didn't want to disturb you." He explains. You peck him on the lips before the two of you get up and eat breakfast. While eating, you finally ask the question that has been eating at you since waking up.

"Dylan, why did you look so sad yesterday? When we said goodbye you seemed really upset. I mean, you must have known by then that you'd come home?" he looks at you with a teasing grin.

"Y/N, I'm an actor. It's my job!" he chuckles, "I was already in the airport." his voice is still a little groggy from sleeping and cracks as he laughs. You punch him playfully in the chest, finally understanding.
After doing the dishes, the two of cuddle up on the couch under a blanket, binge watching your comfort series and just enjoying each other's company. Time flies and suddenly it's dark outside. As another episode finishes, Dylan looks at you with a mysterious smile.
"What? What is it now?" you laugh.
"I might have booked us a table at your favourite restaurant..." he smirks, pecking you on the forehead. You hadn't even realised how hungry you've gotten. You have both been so comfortable on the couch that you'd forgotten all about lunch.
"You didn't..." you sometimes struggle coping with all these little things he does for you. He's so thoughtful.
"Come on, get ready quickly so we can get going. I'm starving!" he whines, pulling the blanket off both of you. You get up and hurry to the bathroom, quickly running a brush through your hair and throwing on some jewellery. You change into your favourite dress and meet Dylan in the hall. He looks at you with loving eyes.
"You look beautiful. Let's go." He smiles, opening the door for you and gesturing outside. "Ladies first."

After a wonderful evening with a delicious meal and even better dessert, you are now back in your bed with Dylan by your side. He's asleep already, crashed almost the moment his head hit the pillow. To be fair he's probably jet-lagged and tired from a long work week. They work crazy hours on set. He looks so cute when he's sleeping, lips slightly parted and his hair a total mess.
"Goodnight Dylan." You whisper, kissing him on the forehead. In the dark you swear you see him smile and hear a silent reply:
          "Happy anniversary, Y/N"
