A big world in a small town

The year was 1926 in Alaska, Nome home to the brave wolf-dog hybrid Balto. Away from the town layed an abandoned ship which was the home of the great hero.

Balto's POV:

I opened my eyes to a bright light in the light blue sky. Everything looked like it had changed as if something happened. But no it was my usual routine in the morning. I threw the blue blanket that I had for years to the side and stretched out my legs and my head. I looked around me and to my suprise I saw a red and white blur across the dock and closed my eyes to adjust them to reality. I then relized that it was my lover Jenna and my son Kodi.

"Good morning" said Balto in a pleasant sound.

"You should warn me before you come to the ship you might scare me."

I then chucked but to my suprised they didn't even smile or at least happy to see him. Deeply concerned why they looked so gray I asked "what's the matter"?

They both looked down and I heard Jennas response to my question.

" Balto... Kodi and I came to tell you that we are going to leave to somewhere in Alaska."

She had said it in a down mood.

The world had turned gray and dark for me and for them too.

"You can't be serious!"

Kodi looked up from the ground and had a redish outline near his eye and tears started falling.

"I -I'm going to take the place of a retired dog in some part over the-"

But he stopped talking and started bawling his eyes out.

I knew he was sad to leave me so I went to his side and told him and his mother to sit down. However Jenna had started crying tol but it softly and quietly. I had noticed that and I licked her tears away.

"It's just so hard - we don't want to leave but Rosys parents said that living here may end up her living a short life!"

She was so hurt I saw it in her eyes and in her face.

"It's okay."

I tried sounding supportive but that was something I should have not said.

Kodi jumped in and his tears were not as clear as before.

"It's not okay mom is leaving in 3 days and I leave in a week we only have a couple of days with each other before we can't see each other!"

He said it so loud and had hurt me deeply and I felt sick to my stomach.

"Look I didn't mean it like that Kodi
I I-"

"No dad u didn't mean it at all."

He was sniffing and looking at me like a wolf but his eyes were like a pups.
But before I can even say anything he turned around and started to walk out of the ship. I told him to stop but all he said was:

"Stop it"

It was something I would remember for my whole life.

Kodi's POV:

How can he just say that he was his father he should go with him or at least spend some memorable time with him and his mom before they leave. I left like a coward though leaving my father and my mother to ponder over me and not spending time before I went to somewhere across Alaska.

"Hey Kodi what's with the frown"?

I looked behind me swiftly to see who it was.

"Oh hey Kirby"
