Lapis was calmly strolling around Beach City. Today was an average ordinary day. The sky was clear, the air was fresh, the temperature was a tad hot but the nice breeze that blew by every once in a while was really relaxing.
Lapis was wearing a sky blue tshirt, a pair of jeans shorts, some dark blue flip-flops and under that she had an aqua blue swimsuit. She was wearing a blue baseball cap to help keep the sun out of her eyes.
Lapis decided to take a stroll along the beach. People were scattered all over doing their own thing and minding their own business. Kids were chasing each other, making sand castles, swimming, relaxing with their family with a picnic. Teens and adults were either sunbathing, swimming, relaxing, or playing volleyball. The lifeguards on duty seemed to all be smiling and relaxed.
Today seemed like a great day to walk on the beach to Lapis. She felt herself smile and the sounds of the ocean waves lapping at the shoreline seemed to cause herself to feel at home. She used to live on a beach with her parents as a child. Beaches always brought good memories to Lapis.
She glanced around her, scanning her surroundings. Maybe she would meet a new friend today? She felt like today would be a potentially good day to make some friends. She needed them. She had recently moved into Beach city a few days ago. She was getting used to the town's layout. She hummed to herself as she continued strolling down the beach.
She noticed how everyone seemed to be having fun and playing while she walked down the beach. She noticed a girl all alone. She was sitting under a tree, staring at the ocean waves. She had light pink hair. It was short and cute. She was wearing jeans shorts and a pastel yellow tanktop. The wind had blown her hair, making it ripple in the breeze.Lapis felt the need to talk to the girl, she was all alone after all. Maybe she was friendly? She felt like it was a good idea to talk to her. She walked over to the girl. She seemed to be lost in ocean, or well, space even. Lapis had stopped a good three feet away from the girl and spoke up.
"Hello! Ah, sorry to disturb you, but I couldn't help but notice you were all alone and I felt the need to talk to you. I am new to Beach City, I moved here a few days ago. I was wondering if maybe I could be your friend?" She awaited a bit nervous to make a new friend in the unknown territory. Pearl blinked to clear her mind for a moment then glanced at Lapis.
"If you are newer, I can gladly show you around the town sometime, maybe today if you have free time?" Pearl felt fascinated by the new girl. Hopefully she would be a fun and kind friend to hang out with. Pearl stood up and wiped herself off before extending a hand to shake. "The name's Pearl!" She grinned cheerfully.
Lapis smiled and shook Pearl's hand. "I'm Lapis, Lapis Lazuli." She would like to explore Beach City and hangout with her new friend. This was all so exciting. She was grinning the whole time as Pearl led the way, giving vocal commentary throughout her tour of Beach city. They had walked around for hours.
By the time it had started to get dark, Lapis was concerned about getting lost but also concerned about her new friend getting home. Somewhere along the tour Pearl had seemed to grasp onto Lapis's hand and held on throughout the day. Lapis didn't mind at all. It seemed like a harmless enough gesture.
"Hey, Pearl, It's getting dark, do you have to be home?" Lapis had inquired. Lapis was nineteen years old. She didn't know that Pearl was eighteen. She didn't think to ask if her friend lived alone or had roommates or lived with family. She kind of wanted to watch the stars with Pearl if she were willing to stay outside that late.
"I can be out as late as I want. I have a few roommates, but they know I sometimes watch stars, the ocean, and other things at night so they don't get too concerned. Say, do you have roomates?" Pearl smiled kindly.
"I don't have a current roommate, but someone is supposed to room with me in two weeks, some college student. I think the board said their name would be Peridot." She shrugged.
"If it's alright with you, would you want to watch the stars with me?" Lapis eagerly looked up at Pearl. Pearl was a bit taller then Lapis by a few inches but not by much.
Pearl smiled and nodded. "Yeah! Let's watch the stars on the beach!" She gently tugged on Lapis's arm and dragged her to the beach. They they both layed on the sand looking toward the sky. The stars all sparkled and shines brightly. The moon shone, fully round tonight.
Pearl held onto Lapis's hand. Lapis didn't mind, she hoped Pearl didn't think anything of it. She mentally shrugged it off. They stayed up late watching the stars and talking about life and their favorite things.
