The bus slowly pulls into the parking space next to my school, Packard Institute for the Mentally Troubled. Yes, although I read a lot, I am still classed as "Mentally Troubled". I hate my school. I hate it with a passion. I hop off the bus, my shoes clattering onto the hard pavement. I look around, trying to avoid the ugly stone building that looms in front of me. Then I see her. My friend, June. As I have mentioned before, she's a bit mad. The only way I know to describe her would be a Capitol citizen. And yes, I have read the Hunger Games. Anyways, she has dyed her skin a weird shade of pale green, and her eyes look like pure chlorophyll. Her auburn hair is also streaked with green. She wears long floaty dresses which make her look like some kind of woodland spirit. Now, June spots me too and she runs towards me.

"Hey! What's up?" she asks me, looking concerned.

"I'm fine, don't worry." I reply, as she gives me a worried look. She looks around suspiciously. Her eyes narrow. I raise my eyebrows, and her strange expression wipes off her face, and is replaced with a wide smile.

"I reckon we'd better get inside. We don't want the Bonner after us." I nod. Mr Bonner is the scariest teacher in the school. He teaches music. And I happen to be terrible at music, whereas June works magic with every instrument she touches. He still hates her, though. Before June herds me inside, I catch a glimpse of her worried face, staring at a shadow that doesn't belong to anything.
