Accessing all the general information the United States has collected through out the past two decades, I can only say that China does not pose a significant threat to the people of the United States. They peacefully conduct free trade with us, wants to be at peace with us an in alliance with us in the UN, and has been America's tie to cheap readily steady consumer goods that all classes of society can afford. In terms militarily our government industrial complex will sight the Chinese as a growing counter part to US dominance on the world stage as a, controller of the sphere of influence on third world nations, buy out major natural recourses worldwide, and may sabotage US cyber space in the hope of controlling our communications.
Besides the United States could logistically afford another third front in our war against terrorism due to lack of man power, the lack of capital to allocate to defense spending, fierce anti war sentiment, waining troop moral, and the repercussions the US would face if they attempted such a move on a power.
Even though president Obama has recently considered developing the destroyer of worlds with defense department contractors such as Boeing, Haliburton, and NATO allies to invest hundreds of billions into deploying nukes and silos on the Russian/Polish border. It would be a good example for the world for the United States to conduct it's old policy of building relationships with nations diplomatically, in conducting free unregulated trade, and not get into convoluted intaglioing alliances with nations of the world. The most reasonable position on this matter is building up our security here at home in our places of government, not in the civilian or private sector, but to recall all armed deployed forces of the United States back home to really defend the homeland. The main threat China has built against America is competition in business and a industrial giant in world economies
