darkness is all i see.
darkness is all i've seen.
as well as light, but at this time of the day, wondering outside where no light is meant to be, darkness.

i wandered to one of my favourite places, feeling the ground turn from hard cement to soft grass, the blades tickling my exposed ankles. the cool night air felt soothing against my skin, as i walked one step after another.

dropping my cane (?), i stumbled to a swing and sat down, feeling the cold metal chains against my palms as tightened my grip and kicked off the ground. the chilly air slapped me hard in the face, but i didn't care. the squeaking of the swing every time i kicked off the ground, the slight sensation of my stomach dropping when i'm too high up, the simulation of flying; makes me nostalgic. i can feel a smile growing on my chapped lips, feeling the need to kick faster, and go higher.

when i stop, silence is the only thing heard. the calm, soothing silence. but, a couple seconds later, squeaking. the squeaking of another swing echoed through my ears. warmth bloomed on my cheeks, feeling embarrassed that another being saw my childish actions. the person stopped, giggles filling the air.

"hello!" the man said, a cheerful tone behind his words.

i turned to face where his voice was coming from.

"h-hi."

"how are you?"

"i'm good, thank you."

silence.

"what's your name?" the man asked, the metal-against-metal echoing into my ears every time he swung.

"u-um it's dan." i spoke, voice barely audible.

"sorry? i didn't get that."

"dan. it's dan."

"oh! i'm phil."

"so, do you watch an-"

"oh my god, is that a haru shirt you're wearing?" phil cut me off, a tint of excitement in his voice.

i giggled. "i have no fucking clue."

"oh, i'm sorry. i thought that since you were wearing a free! shirt, maybe you would have known the anime."

"i do, it's just that i'm pretty much as blind as a bat, so i don't really see what my clothing choices are. and i have no idea what haru looks like. how good does his muscles look?" i replied, gently trying to brush some of the curly mess that is my hair behind my ear.

soft notes of laughter filled the air, as phil listened to dan's comment.

"well, i must say, his muscles are quite beautiful."

after an hour or so of talking to phil about everything, light started to replace the darkness, indicating that the early hours of morning are coming to an end and that he should get back to his apartment.

"i should head off now, see you some time?" i honestly didn't want to leave this man, but it was true, i should be going back.

"can we meet somewhere? i know this little café nearby that we can meet up at tomorrow, only if you want to of course."

my heart fluttered in happiness.

"s-sure! can it be around 4 pm?"

"yep! see you tomorrow!"

"bye, phil!"

"bye, danny!" phil called after, making my cheeks flush as i hear the nickname.
