Chapter 7: Solitary

Tobi came to a quick halt. The look of horror on his face sent pain shooting through my chest.

"Farkus. Please. There is no need for this. Give her to me." Tobi had taken on a new role. He no longer just looked like someone who cared about me as a friend but much more. This was his job. I was his job.

"Not only my job Rena. You're a good friend and I swear I'll get you out of this. You'll be okay." His voice was calm inside my head.

"Tobi I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have ran off. I was just scared and overwhelmed." My voice sounded so strange inside my own head.

"You know I can't let her go. She was supposed to die in that accident! Giles failed us!!! She is going to destroy us all!" He was screaming to Tobi right by my ear. His hands tightened around me. The arm around my waist so tight it was hard to breathe. The hand on my hair shifted positions and was around my throat now.

"Farkus, you're wrong. She isn't going to hurt anyone. Now I really don't want to hurt you so please let her go." he spoke slowly and deliberately with such a force. Farkus laughed harshly in my ear. He moved my face up exposing my neck. His breath was hot against my ear.

"She smells so lovely. I wonder what the other Solitaries would think if I brought her home with me. We could just keep her to play with until she fades away. Hide her from your damned courts." My breath was coming out shaky now. I jumped as I felt his teeth graze my jaw. They felt sharper than a humans.

"Please just let- ah!" I shouted out when I felt his teeth sink into my neck. I felt my eyes go wide and a tear slip as I felt warm liquid drip down my neck. He released his grip on my throat and pulled something out of the waist band of his pants.

"No Farkus let her go!" Tobi was screaming now. He took another step closer and then stopped when I gasped. Farkus was running cool metal underneath the hem of my shirt.

"Now babe, where's that pretty little hole giles' left in you last time. It'll make this easier for me, but a bit more painful for you." He growled in my ear as he lifted up my shirt and continued to trail the blade higher up my back.

"Tobi please hurry. Do whatever you have to I don't want to die. Don't worry about hurting me just please. Save me." I pleaded to him through our mind speak as tears continued to fall.

He looked pained as Farkus hurt me. "Okay. Serena I need you to just keep breathing. No matter what just breathe for me and everything will be alright."

I nodded a little and then gasped as I felt the knife graze against the hole from the previous stabbing. He purred against my ear.

"Seems I've found it." His arm around my waist tightened as he pressed the blade into the cut. I couldn't hold in the cry and he had to hold me up to keep from falling down. "Sh baby sh sh. Don't cry it'll just annoy me." I looked up at Tobi pleading with my eyes for him to do anything. To help me. I saw him take a deep breath and then all emotion left his eyes. They closed. I watched quietly trying not to scream as the blade bit in further. He started glowing brighter than I'd ever seen. The area around us started to get hot like a sticky summer day. I was sweating and Farkus started flinching. "Stop. What are you doing? Tobi don't! I'll kill her!" he was screaming pressing the blade harder.

"Do it." I whispered quietly out loud as well as in my head. His eyes darted open and Farkus was screaming in agony. He threw me to the ground and I turned to watch him. He was on fire. Burning to death. He tried desperately to put himself out. I felt myself being picked up.

"Come on we gotta go quick." I was on my feet and then I fell back to the ground. Tobi pulled me into his arms carrying me the way he did this morning. This time it was much quicker though. We were in the street and then suddenly by the car. He pulled open the passenger seat and placed me gently in the car. "Just hold on Serena." His voice was muffled as he got into the drivers seat and pulled into the road heading back home. My eyes started to Tunnel out and soon I couldn't see or hear anything. I just had to keep breathing.
