Chapter 11: Fallout

I was a little skeptical of this tracker thing actually working. It just popped into my head right before I gave Damien all the power I had. That's what made me hold onto to that sliver. I could get the rest back with this. After about an hour of mindless wandering I was lead to an empty part of town. I could see a pulse coming from an abandoned looking apartment complex. I was being pulled to it. That's it. My powers were in there. I needed to get them back. But how? It's gonna be a hit or miss thing. I'm going to just hope for the best. I crossed the street and ran up the steps into the apartments main doorway. I paused listening. Nothing. It was deathly silent. I carefully made my way up the side of the staircase to avoid the creaks. I followed the pulse. I could feel it through my entire body. Like the bass of your favorite song making you feel whole. It sent chills down my spin and made the hairs on the back of my neck and arms stand up. I wanted it. I needed it back. Now, knowing what I was capable of I couldn't let them just get away from me. I couldn't let them into the wrong hands. They were meant to be used for good or not at all. Not to destroy an entire race like the Winter king wanted to do. I passed by doorways silently listening. Rats ran across my feet but I kept quiet. I heard someone in the last room on the left and made my way over there. Using this last sliver of power I had after being so drained and training so hard was making me so weak, but using more I silently opened the door and stepped inside closing it behind me then I quickly melted and then rapidly froze the door knob and lock inside so it would be near impossible to escape. There he was. He was speaking to someone on a cellphone angrily in the kitchen to my right with his back turned to me. He was vibrating with anger and was causing a dent in the top of the refrigerator with his free hand. He glowed slightly with my powers and ice slipped from his fingertips. I waited patiently till he was off the phone and turned around and saw me. He gasped and his eyes went wide.

"Shit. Serena. What the hell are you doing here?" At first he was shocked then his eyes turned fierce hiding any other emotion. I suddenly felt slightly unsure of what I was doing. Could I really fight him and win?

"I've come to get my powers back from you. You stole them and I want them back. I won't let you and this king of yours hurt anyone with them." I sneered at him the more I said confidence growing inside me. "You have two options Damien. Give them up now or I will have to use force." He laughed sharply.

"Force? Really? you're empty! I don't even know how you found me! dumb like maybe but I'm sorry darling. You won't be taking anything tonight so you'd better just run on home before you get hurt." His eyes turned to slits and his hands glowed swirling with power. I felt ice pour into my heart with his words. I took a stance Tobi had taught me and summoned my powers up. "You're really gonna try and fight aren't you? And I thought you were smarter than that!"

"Don't make me do this. Just give them back." I whispered in his head too scared to speak out loud.

"No!" and with that one word he pushed and frost came and bit at my skin flipping me over the couch and into a tv. I groaned shaking my head. I could hear his footsteps quickly approaching. I sent out a burst of ice from my right hand into his chest as I climbed to my feet.

"Now that hurt. And I really don't enjoy being pushed around anymore." As I spoke ice slipped from me and the floor beneath us and the walls around us took on a glossy coating of ice. He pushed off the table he was leaning against and disappeared before my eyes. I gasped and then felt his breath on my neck. Before I could spin around he wrapped one hand around my throat gripping tightly and holding my body close to his. His other arm was around my body making it impossible to move anything but my arms. Even lifting my feet did nothing. He was ten times stronger than me and had a foot on either side of my body so I couldn't kick him.
