The next morning, Brexley awoke to Ben pacing the length of their bedroom and whisper shouting about Jack. "We are going to have to move. We can't stay here, he's going to find us. I can't let him Brexley or Kins. I'll have to through...." "Ben?" Brexley said, sitting up. "Did I wake you? I'm sorry. Just go back to bed." "Ben, I'm fine. Besides, it's...6:00 I have to get up anyways." "Brexley. You need to go back to sleep." "Ben, I am a grown woman, I can take care of myself and I know whether or not if I need to go back to bed." "Good grief, have your way then. I was only trying to look out for you. I'm going down to the office now." With that ben walked out without returning Brexley's goodbye. I wonder why he's so snappy this morning. "Ma...Ma...Mama?" came a soft, crying voice from the doorway. "Yes, babygirl?" Brexley said as Kinsley walked up to the bed and crawled into Brexley's lap. "Da...Daddy yelled, loud." "Yes, baby, he did yell." "Why?" "I don't know Kinsley. I don't know."
That evening, as Ben walked through the door, Brexley called him into the kitchen. "Yes, dear?" Ben said, sarcasm dripping from his voice. "Please, don't start this, I don't want to fight with you." Brexley replied, removing the food she was preparing, from the stove. "Well, if you don't want to fight why don't you go talk to your dad, maybe he could finally solve your problems for you." Dropping the bowl she was carrying, Brexley turned around shocked. "I have never expected you to fix any of my problems and I never plan on do expecting you to fix them either. So, why would I run to my dad for help? He used to beat me, do you remember that? Or are you too wrapped up in yourself to think about it?" "No, I remember. I also remember very clearly how you began to throw your problems on me when we started dating. 98% of the things you have in life you wouldn't have if it wasn't for me." "Ben, how dare you say something like that. You know full well that I worked my butt off for everything I have." "Oh, yep, for sure. Everything you have is your own doing. Yep that's right." "Ben, please, I didn't want to fight with you when I called you in here, I simply wanted to talk to you." "Well, find someone else to. I have problems of my own to sort out." As Ben left the kitchen Brexley fell to the ground, tears streaming down her face.
"Mommy, I help?" said Kinsley as she walked into the kitchen. "No, baby, I got it. You can go play. I'll finish making supper." "No, you cry, I help." "Oh, come here." Brexley said pulling Kinsley into bear hug. After about 15 minutes of sitting in that position, Kinsley began to squirm so Brexley let her run off and play. Why is he being like this? I just wanted to talk to him, just he and I, husband and wife, having a normal conversation. "Supper's ready." Brexley shouted, too exhausted to go get everyone. Kinsley's soft footsteps could be heard, running into the dining room, immediately after Brexley's call. Five minutes went by before Brexley knew Ben wasn't coming down. "You can eat now, Kins." Brexley said, letting out a sigh. That evening as Brexley was getting Kinsley ready for bed, she decided that she was going to sleep in the guest bedroom, as not to disturb Ben. Lying in bed Brexley began to think of what would happen if she and Ben continued to fight the way they had been. They have always had their little arguments, but nothing as big as this. Did I do something before he came home to make him so angry? Maybe he just bad a bad day at the office. I want to help somehow, but one thing's for sure, I am not going to ask him about it. With that, Brexley fell into a sleep that was anything but peaceful. Tossing and turning, she couldn't help but dream of how her and Ben's relationship would end.
Brexley was woken up to the steady sound of a fist pounding on the door. "Brexley, open the door." Ben said as he continued pounding on the door. "It's not locked." Brexley replied, pulling the sheets up and rolling over. As soon as she had said that, Ben swung the door open and marched over to the bed. "Brexley, why didn't you come to bed last night?" "Because I didn't want to disturb you or make you any madder then you already were." "Oh, well I thought that we had promised that no matter if we were arguing or not, we would always sleep in the same room." "We did Ben, but we have never had an argument as big or as ongoing as the one we are in currently." "Brexley, no matter how big of a fight or argument we get into, never forget that I love you." "I love you too, Ben, but we can't continue to fight the way we have been. We are either going to have to work something out or, I don't know what will happen."
