You jump off the 'A' Train and walk off with your friend. You both had a day off work so you decided to explore the region a bit more.
"I'm so thirsty." (F/N) groans. "I need some water or an ice cream or something." As if on time you hear a man sing.
"Piragua, Piragua." You smiled but your friend wasn't interested in buying one.
"It's so hot." You muttered as you walk past a salon and enter the corner store.
"Hmm, you're right his hot." Your friend says nudging you. You look in front of your friend and see a Dominican man lifting up Goya beans onto shelves. There was another younger boy unpacking milky ways.
"Hey. Can we please get two waters." You asked the younger boy.
"Yo cous! Two cold waters for these tourists over here." He shouts to his cousin. Your friend chuckles.
"Tourists? Us! No way are you charging us anymore than the locals here. We live in New York City." Your friend demands. You roll your eyes. The older man walks over and slaps the younger one on the head. It was only until now you realised that the younger one was looking at your friends boobs in a sexual way
"Sonny." He rolls his eyes.
"Yo Usnavi!" Another guy walks in. "Can I get a -"
"A Milky Way, Daily News, the Post and your bosses second coffee, one cream five sugars." He said as it rolled off his tongue.
"You got it." He smiled and walked over to you and placed an arm around your shoulders.
"You're cute."
"I saw her first." Sonny said upset.
"Uhh, I'm not looking for a date. I'm only here because my friend and I need some water." You say pushing Bennys arm off you. You didn't mind getting the attention though.
"Here." The unknown Dominican man said passing the two waters. "I'm so sorry about my cousins and my best friends behaviour. You see, Sonny here, likes to give women attention and Benny here, well his girlfriend-"
"She's not my girlfriend."
"Fine. 'Lady friend' is at college." He said using the quotation marks.
"It's fine." You say smiling to give the guy some comfort. "And what about yourself?" You ask as you realise your friend has now left the shop with her water.
"His single and ready to mingle." Sonny said pushing the unknown man closer to me.
"Well, I'm (Y/N)." You smile and put your hand out to shake his.
"Usnavi."
"Did your parents name you after a ship something? Because it's sounds like US navy." You joke and Usnavi nodded.
"Yep."
"But you make it work." Benny nudged him and laughed.
"Thanks got the waters again." You say passing a ten dollar bill to the man.
"It's on the house." He blushed and walked back behind the counter, which seemed to be his 'safe stop'.
"Thanks." You say and walk out of the store. You take two steps out and try to look around for your friend. You can see she's off talking to some guy who is selling t-shirts and has a bag full of grafiti spray cans.
You sigh and sit down on the step near the corner store.
"Hello there you spunky lady."
"You're not from around here, are you?"
"Wanna come back to mine?"
The boys whistled and a guy honked his horn.
"I'm alright. Thanks anyways." You shrug crossing your arms. You wished someone could come out and save you from this situation. Maybe that cute Dominican boy.
"Oh come on. We can go back to mine and I'll give you an experience that you'll never forget." He smirks. He grabs your arm and yanks you up.
"I'm alright." You stamp your foot and an older lady comes out waving a towel in the air.
"Oi. Get away from her! You disgusting bastards." She shouts and Usnavi runs out and removes the mans hand from your arm and pulls you into a hug.
"Oh uhh, sorry. Are you okay? Come back to the store. I-I can get some ice for your arm." He suggests. You're very grateful for his help.
"Thanks Usnavi." You smile and walk back into the store and he sits you down on a stool which he pulled out from under the cash register.
"Take a sit." He said to you and inspects your arm. "I'll be back." He said and walks off.
"You're back. You just couldn't resist me." Sonny smirks walking over to me.
"Yes. That's exactly why I'm here." You roll your eyes and Benny passes you his half eaten milky bar.
"Thanks?" You question as you take it. You were getting pretty hungry.
"Here's the ice." Usnavi said and bends down, takes your hand in his and placed the ice on your wrist.
"Thanks." You smile and he walks back over to the coffee machine. You sigh and pull out your phone, hoping your friend had texted you about her whereabouts.
"Here. I hope you like coffee." He smiled and passed you the cup. You take a sip.
"This is delicious. Better than the crap they serve in the city." You smile to him. "What's your secret?" You ask him taking another sip.
"Uhh, I add a dash of cinnamon and instead of milk I use condensed milk. My fridge broke this morning." You mutters and you smile at him. You take a quick glance at his lightly pink coloured lips. The door keeps dinging and Usnavi gets up to make some more coffee and sell some more items. Your phone buzzed and it's your friend.
(F/N): Where are you?! I've been looking everywhere for you.
(Y/N): I'm at the corner store. I'll meet you outside in a minute.
You quickly send that text and walk back near the register.
"Usnavi. Thanks for the ice and everything. I-I've uhm, I have to go."
"It-it was n-nice to meet you." He said blushing and gave you a sad look.
"How can I repay you for everything."
"Don't worry about it." He smiles and you sigh. You open up your purse and look for some money or something.
"Usnavi." You say and he looks at you. "I uhh, have another day off next week. If you're not busy, I've love to come back and visit you." You say and he nods quickly.
"Th-that would be awesome." He said and you grab the pen behind his ear and a napkin. You write down your number. "Take this." You smiled and he looks at the napkin. Maybe his never got a girls number before? You question to yourself. He doesn't seem like he knows what to do to it. You smile and begin to walk out. "Oh Usnavi." You say turning around and walking back to him. You quickly kiss his cheek and he turns red with embarrassment. "Thanks again." You say and walk out.
"I've been looking for you everywhere. We're going to miss our train." Your friend exasperates.
"Jeez, trains come every twenty minutes." You mutter under your breath.
"So, where did you go?" You ask your friend as you reach the train station.
"Just walked around the block. What about you?" She asked suspiciously, and used emphasis on word 'you'. You blush.
"Yeah the same."
