I started my first night at work humming a tune to set my mood but as hours passed and still nothing I started to question myself if I made the right decision of coming here. I grew more and more frustrated that all I want to do was pull out all the hair on my head.
Am I even in the right place?
But I already checked the town's residents list in nineteen-ninety five and possitive we lived here until two thousand five.
Maybe tomorrow I could drop by the diner and ask Lillian if she had known my parents before.
The thought ignited my dwindling hope.
Besides this a small town where everyone knows everyone. You can't hide secrets in this kind of town.
But I am determined to trace my father whatever it takes to the point were I almost memorize the name of the locals. I even gone as far as study their facial features, trying to point some similarities to mine.
But nothing.
Did all my effort gone to waste?
I checked my family's address twenty years ago. It was not far from here, actually it was just two blocks away. I checked the monitors, the streets were relatively empty except for the few passing cars.
The alleys are eerily quite save for the stray cats fighting for dominance for the little food the trash cans contained. There was no one brave enough to roam around the town during this time of the night especially when there were news of missing person.
But the question was.
Was I even brave enough to be out at this time of the night?
To think that even the news of missing person already spooked me out, how much more to walk in the dark by myself.
Maybe I could visit the house in the morning. But I would be to exhausted to even do that. Theres no other choice but now.
I steeled myself and my resolve.
The house was abandoned in eleven years. It means it was never been sold since then and based on the records it was never been rented either.
I just hope that no one touches anything in the house maybe I could find little clues that could point me to the right direction of my father.
I glanced one last time to the monitors it was still the same a few hours ago.
They wouldn't even know that I leave my post.
I slowly stand from where I am sitting and walk the small distance to the door. I yanked it open and the harsh cold wind greeted me, goose bumps instantly erupted on my exposed skin.
I shivered from both cold and in fear walking on this barely visible streets.I took out my tablet from the coat pocket that I conveniently connected to the main server so I could still have access in the office and be able to see the town's video footages at this time of the night.
I slowly walked through the depths of darkness. The only light was the flickering of the lamp post on the left corner of the block making the shadows danced with every small spark of light it produced. Shapes formed in bizarre and terrifying ways making me jumped and yelped in fright when a small branch snapped in the harsh smack of evening wind. I put my hand on my wildly beating heart and sighed in relief.
Thanking all the heavens that it was not a muderer.
Lucy this is a very bad idea!
I internally scolded myself.
