Chapter Three

He bit his tongue, trying hard not to utter another sarcastic remark.

"I heard that u have even started up a new business in Seattle. I have always wanted to settle down there, wouldn't that be lovely Eric?"
Anna continued unaware of his distaste.

But instead he said,
"Yeah that would be lovely. "
She smiled half-heartedly. Maybe she expected him to reply with something like,
"oh wow! You can always settle down with me at my apartment baby!" he wondered. But he didn't give a damn about lying through his tooth just to please any women.

The last hour had been a complete torture for him. What he would give to get away from here, he thought, not knowing that he would regret ever even thinking that. For fate had a bigger twist for him that sure would turn his life.

"Eric can be a big businessman Anna, but when it comes to someone he likes, he is completely at loss", said Bella assuringly.

She noticed how he dismissed Anna at her every attempt at talking. He either gave a sarcastic comment or worse replied single worded. How can they get acquainted if he was not willing to atleast converse with her.

"Yeah right!", mumbled Eric sarcastically to himself.

With a twinkle to her eyes, the girl whose name he finally remembered, thanks to Bella, replied with,
"I can relate to it, men are so predictable." She giggled looking at her brother.

Whatever she meant by that, made heat creep up his little sister's pale cheeks. And by the looks of it, it sure made her like the girl more. A look at Joseph and he knew he could trust him with his little sister, if his sheepish look was any indication.

Bella turned to look at Joseph, her eyes kind. Eric had been treating Miss. Anna Victor as if she was a mere pest, not even acknowledging her effort in trying to impress him. He didn't want to give Bella the satisfaction of seeing him falling into her trap. He had thought she had agreed for a double date just to set him up, nothing more. But now, he's not sure anymore. Either she was a good actress trying to play him into her trap or she really liked this Joseph guy.

But one thing was clear. He sure didn't like Anna. She was too sophisticated for his liking. Talked nonsense and a typical girlie-girl. Her overdressed state said it all, when all he wore was a casual shirt paired with his denim trousers.

He looked at her properly. The glittery red dress she wore defined all her curves. Her 3 inch stilettos with designer bag and accessories gave her a model look with the pale pretty face of hers. God! She was on a date not on a red carpet parading her beauty, he thought. She sure was not his type.

He wanted his girl little shy, gentle but cheerful and confident in her decisions and actions. She should have a good listening ear, a compassionate heart and a voice of truth. He mused upon the qualities his mind conjured up with a smile gracing his mouth. He could only wish she

"Am sure you won't mind, do you both?" Bella's words broke through his reverie.

Lost in his thoughts, Eric wondered what the conversation had been about.

Having no clue as to what she was referring to, he looked over at Anna in time to see her nod enthusiastically. It sure was not good sign, he thought.

"Anna I..", he was cut all too eagerly by Bella telling him,
"Perfect! Then I'll take my leave with Joseph. Take good care of her bro", she winked playfully and was off the seat soon, walking hand in hand with Joseph to where, he didn't know.
