What's meant to be will always find its way. No matter how the circumstances turn out to be.
And that is fate's play!

Chapter One

His tired eyes set menacingly upon his unsuspecting poor victim, or rather soon to be. Eric did not like being questioned. Specially where said questions seemed futile and not of his benefit but a waste of his time.

"I said I want an espresso, be it long or short doesn't concern me. Bring what you have, else inform your owner I need a change of waiter." He angrily dismissed the waitress who tried in-vain to flatter with the rich looking businessman she had set her eyes upon. Pestering him with questions, trying to prolong her time with him.

Caleb Smith, his P.A chuckled on the expense of the poor waitress, who happened to have crossed the path of his master at one of his moody days. They had stopped by a coffee shop, after their tiring journey. With the upcoming fundraising program and having to manage the business expansion a state away, it was surely taking a toll on all of them. Specially on Eric, who did not expect to face so much competition on the state he had newly established his business branch, a few months ago.

"Sir, give it a rest! I'll look into the new projects that has come our way. Enjoy the dinner with Miss.Landen and have a good nights sleep. If anything comes up, I'll inform u sir." Said Caleb.

God! attending to business in a new setting was harder than he thought! He had almost forgot about the workloads for he hadn't expanded the business since the launch of his construction company 5 years ago. Although, he acquired a remodeling company to work alongside his business 2years later, it didn't match with the effort he had to put up in expanding it. But the success he sure was to gain would have pleased her, he reminded himself. That in-itself is worth the effort.

Soon as the coffee he ordered arrived from the waitress who looked anywhere but him, he drank, left a hundred dollar note and hurried his way to meet Bella for dinner, bidding his farewell to Caleb, his P.A.

He reached the two-storied town house he called home. Landens' house, was situated at the upperclass region of California, a house for the rich. Eric normally preferred the small penthouse a block away from his business building. But it's high time he pay visit to his mom and sister who live alone, unless one count the maids that serve them.

His sister Bella guilt-tripped him into having dinner with her and insisted on doing so as soon as he land after his long journey. God knows what she had in-store for him this time, cuz' he had learnt long ago that there's always a reason behind women's insistence.

Upon entering the house he was engulfed in a motherly hug, that warmed up his heart and made him forget his tiresome day. His mom lovingly looked at him, brushing his unruly black hair from his forehead and ushered him to join the dinner table after freshening up.

Upon arriving at the dining table, his eyes feasting on the delicious dishes that were his favorites, his suspicions were confirmed. Bella was trying to lure him into something.
Either way, his stomach grumbled and he decided on diving himself into food and ponder later onto her demanding.

"God! Where are the manners I taught you little man? " Felicia, his mom's disapproving words drifted to his ears.

"I thought of feeding my grumbling stomach as much am lucky to, before the demanding lioness denies me" he replied.

"Why would the said lioness deny you of your food big brother?" Came Bella's voice.

Stuffing his mouth with a piece of roasted chicken he mumbled his reply.
"I hoped you would deny me the food as soon as I deny you of whatever that has made you put a great effort on making these, little sis"
