"You don't find love, it finds you.
It's got a little bit to do with destiny,
fate and what's written in the stars."
- Ana is NinChapter Four
Waking up to the shrilly noise of a whistle in your ears, can do many things to you.
For nearly half an hour very colorful words, that would sure make the women tinge with color and the men cringe from hearing such scornful words coming out of a lady's mouth, had been spit vehemently at Jessica Diargar, Lia's best friend.
After plotting the different ways in which to murder her own best friend for some time, Jessica convinced Lia to conspire later, for she had different plans today.
The two set out to get some hot coffee before visiting the mall. Her tender ears couldn't bear to hear the giggling and gossiping school girls surrounding them and she almost attacked them, if not for Jessi. Then they left to the mall.
"What do you say? The black dress or the blue one? I personally think, the blue would be good on you."
Asked or more like stated Jessi, holding up two dresses in each hands."Don't you think the blue looks too elegant? It sure is not for me."
Added Lia. But as usual, her approval didn't matter. Jessi chose what she thought was pleasant."It is set then! You're buying the blue one. No argument miss."
Said Jessi. As if she can ever win arguing with her. Thought Lia.A few more shops and they had all what was needed. Lia regretted ever asking her friend for help, but secretly she knew if not for her, she would look like a sore loser.
"Now all that's left is spa", came the excited voice of Jessi.
It has been a tradition, the two friends spent the morning hours of every Sunday together. They rarely missed it. And every first Sundays of the month was for spa and shopping.
"But am hungry. First food and everything else comes second" said Lia, already making her way towards a food court.
"Oh! You sure know how to wound my heart don't you?"
Was the dramatic reply of Jessi. With a smile gracing her lips, Lia said,
"It seems Nate is rubbing on you, huh?""He would rather rub on you than on me. His eyes is all on you. Only you Li" said she.
Shaking her head, she sat at a table and Jessi joined her. Ordering their usual they sat chatting away the events of the week. Jessi being a news reporter in the Local press, talked about the various scandals that had been going in the city.
Recounting the conversation she had with Nate the previous day, Lia told her friend,
"Hey Jessi, will you be able to collect me the details of a man if I give you his name?"Eyes squinting in accusation, Jessica said,
"You didn't tell me that you have grown an interest on the male species, young lady"."God! Am not asking your help to stalk a man. Let me rephrase it, collect me the details of a businessman Jess." Lia said.
"Oh! So you really do swing that way? It's a real loss to the men!"
Said Jessi with mock sympathy."What?", asked Lia dumbfounded.
Recalling Jessica's earlier words, she glared at her friend, while Jessi cackled with laughter.*****
She sure loved her work. But it took effort. To retain a business, one should bring about changes once in a while. Unless you'll be thrown out the market.
Lia had always dedicated herself in working. Remodeling n decorations had been her very interest from her younger days. It's her one dream she wouldn't sacrifice for the world, for she had had sacrificed enough.
It was the late evening hours of the day. Most of her employees had already retired for the day. But not she. She hated unfinished works. Her mind wouldn't rest in peace, otherwise.
Having had attended a business meeting earlier, Lia was in a good spirit. She felt refreshed, her motive to work higher.
Having discussed about the new project, her mind was conjuring up new ideas. But it sure took effort! While Maria, her secretary was attending to her mails and scheduling her appointments for the week outside her cabin, Lia was with Andrew, her manager planning.
"Ma'am, that's a wonderful plan. It would bring about a sophisticated look all the while not interrupting the classical look."
Said Andrew, agreeing with Lia's plan and his eyes shone with pride and respect."Thank you, Andrew. Anyway, mirrored panels can be elegant and would give scale to the room. But don't use large sheets of mirrors cuz it will look commercial, so try sectioned pattern in the French style instead " She informed him.
The prideful gleam in Andrew's eyes brought a sense of relief and happiness in herself. She wanted to see that satisfaction in her customers.
"Of course Miss.Lia. Am very much sure Mr. Hawkins will be pleased. It will mark our success.."
Andrew's words were lost in the air, for they were intruded rather unpleasantly.Lia heard the door to her room open with such force, she was sure the hinges will need bolting up.
Lia could hear, within mere seconds the long strides of the intruder stop right in front of her long oak table. Before she could turn herself around to face whoever it was, palms slammed on the table and the labored breathing of someone as if trying hard to rein in their rage, could be heard.
She turned ready to utter a set of colorful words and to reprimand him/her for intruding into her own territory. But all words escaped her.
She was left speechless, staring at grey eyes that seemed to widen one moment and search for something in her eyes and soon enough harden with controlled anger.
Just within a few seconds her eyes scanned all about what was presented before her eyes, for no one can be expected to turn a blind eye to beauty.
A chiseled face, a hard jaw with a muscle ticking- probably with the restraint of rage building up within that handsome features, adding up to his roughish behavior. Light brown hair with some loose strands curling above his eyebrows pulled down in the middle with concentration, that begged to be touched.
Staring into the chiseled and well defined face of the intruder, she wondered,
'Of all the people in the world, it had to be him?'Him as in a handsome face, or him as in the demanding business man who tried to bribe her out? It's seems there's more to the story! What is fate trying to play at?
Oh! The long await is over! They have finally met. What do you think will happen next?
