I didn't see D.J. again that weekend, so I was nervous walking into school on Monday. What were we? Should I acknowledge him? Would he act like nothing had happened?
I put the car I park and walked inside. Alex was already at her locker with Cole. She saw me and walked over, Cole trailing like a puppy behind her.
"Hey." She greeted.
"Hey." I looked behind her at Cole.
Alex turned around. "I'll talk to you later, Cole. Okay?"
"Yeah." Cole nodded. "I'll catch ya later." Alex spun back to look at me as he walked down the hallway.
"So," Alex leaned on the row of lockers. "How was your weekend?"
I shrugged and put in my combination. "It was fine. Same as usual."
Alex rolled her eyes. "Don't give me that bull shit."
"What?" I looked at her confused.
"I saw you come out of the theater with D.J. Cole and I were there." Alex explained.
"I didn't see you." I admitted.
"Yeah." Alex laughed. "I figured. You might as well have been on another planet the way you were looking at him."
I blushed.
Alex play punched me in the arm. "Hey, I'm just giving you crap. I thought it was cute, but seriously don't hold out on me. It's rude."
"Well, I'm not sure where we're going so I didn't want to bring it up yet." I hadn't realized how true that phrase was until it had come out of my mouth.
"You're an idiot."
"Excuse me?" I huffed.
"He obviously likes you. You can tell. It's all up to you where you guys go, as usual." Alex explained.
"What do you mean 'as usual'?" I asked.
"I mean, every time you get a guy you push them away, or you don't think they like you back or something. It's stupid."
I thought about what Alex had said for a second. "Yeah, I guess you're right." I paused. "Do you know where D.J. is though? I need to ask him a question."
Alex shook her head. "No. Haven't seen him all morning."
I started to turn and Alex gave me a dirty look. "Don't worry." I said. "I'll tell you about this weekend later."
Alex smiled and we both walked our separate ways.
I looked all over for D.J., but eventually I gave up. Maybe he was running late, or, knowing him, just decided not to come until he had to.
I went and grabbed my books and walked to class. The teacher was running late, as usual, so I walked over to fill Alex in on what had happened this weekend.*****************
"That is so cute!" Alex squealed. The bell had rung and we were on our way to English.
I had filled Alex in on most of it. I didn't tell her about D.J.'s dad, that wasn't mine to tell. I did tell her about everything else though, from Seth to D.J. taking me home.
"Yeah." I shrugged and smiled. "I guess."
"And you didn't even have sex with him. That's adorable."
"Alex, seriously. Not everybody has to sleep around." I knew that would take a crack at her.
"Hey," Alex looked at me offended. "I do not sleep around."
