one time, many years before,
i had made the mistake of asking my mother if i could have a friend to talk to and play with
because being the youngest person at her gatherings sucked.the even bigger mistake was made when i told her that her gatherings weren't fun.
well, the words i used were 'boring' and 'stupid'.
i remember the stare she gave me as she instantly stopped what she was doing.
it was blank,
and it was as if the whole world had fallen silent.back then, i didn't know that i was disrespecting her by calling her gatherings boring and stupid.
i didn't know that i was insulting my mother to the point of no return.not only had i called her gatherings boring and stupid,
but i had the nerve to look at her as if i'd done nothing wrong.words couldn't even begin to describe the surprise i felt when i barely had enough time to blink
before her hand was across my face.i lost my first tooth that day,
and i learned to never talk down on her gatherings again.no one but my brother saw what had happened,
and he got quite a laugh out of it.of course,
it was only after he got over the shock of having to literally pick his teeth up off of the ground as well.that was years ago,
but time didn't matter because the back side of my mother's hand still hurt just the same.tell me,
did you get quite a laugh as well?•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
