The Face of an Apple (Kuroko no Basket Fanfic)

I'm Special

"Yosh!" Aida cried clenching her fist. It seems like she was the only one excited about this trip. "Let's aboard the train." She continued walking excitedly toward the entrance. "We should wait for the others." Kiyoshi reminded while scratching his head. They were expecting Aida to burst in anger but she didn't instead she sat by the near bench with a smile on her face.

"This is not good." Hyuga whispered to Kiyoshi. "Her smiles gives me goosebumps." Izuki muttered and the others  heard this and shivered in fear. "I'm already expecting the worse in this trip." Koganei said and Mitobe nodded. "Where could those three be?" izuki asked looking at the staircase. He was referring to us: Kagami, Kuroko and, your truly, me.

Kagami locked his door as he went out. "Kuroko, What are you doing here?" He asked looking at Kuroko who's standing in front of the door next to his unit. "I came to pick Michiko." He answered calmly and knocked again. The door opened and they were shocked to see me soak and wet. "W-w-what happened to you?" Kagami cried and covered his eyes. Kuroko remained calm. Maybe he was used seeing me like this. "She probably tried to take a bath." Kuroko explained and walked inside.

Kagami suddenly choked Kuroko's head in his arms. "What do you think you're doing?" Kagami asked not expecting him to answer. "Taking advance of an innocent girl in times like these." He accused and choked Kuroko tighter. They stopped when they heard something fall down.

Kuroko and Kagami entered the bathroom without thinking. They found me sitting under the running water over my shirt. Since Kagami wasn't used to seeing me like this he ran out of the room in panic and shut the door. He held his chest tight still denying what he saw.

"Michiko, where's your cousin?" Kuroko asked while scrubbing my back. "She went somewhere." I answered and there was long pause. "We're done, Michiko. Please wash properly." Kuroko said and left the room. "I'll be here outside if you need assistance." Kuroko said and noticed that Kagami was flaring in anger.

(*)"You?!" He cried and looking terribly scary at Kuroko. "Kagami, you have to understand." Kuroko spoke before Kagami could choke him. "She is special." Kuroko continued and Kagami was a bit puzzled. "She is very smart but she lacks motivation to live with everyday." Kuroko explained avoiding eye contact with Kagami.

I finished wearing my clothes but Kuroko fixed them for me. Kagami was sitting on the corner and placing his head on his hand. He looks like he was thinking about something. Then he looked my way and his eyes widened. "Y-you're fixing her hair?" He asked surprisingly and pointing his finger over us. Kuroko was brushing my hair and braiding it. I looked at Kuroko, who was ignoring Kagami.

"Why do you look surprised?" I asked still wearing my pokerface. "G-g-girls shouldn't be taken care like that." He answered still very tensed. "You're a grown up. You should be able to take care of yourself!" He shouted. He didn't intend to insult me but it kinda struck me a bit. I looked down and Kuroko noticed it. After fixing my hair, I stood up and went to fix my things. Then we left.

"Oh! There they are." Koganei informed and everyone turned their heads as we climb the stairs. "Why do I feel like there is something between them?" Kiyoshi spoke. "They don't look good." Izuki added whispering to Kiyoshi. "Seems like they got into a fight." Hyuga shared his thoughts. "Good! Now that everyone's here let's head to the training camp!" Aida cried happily jumping up and down.

We stepped inside the train and Kuroko held my hand. "We shouldn't get separated from the crowd." He explained and I nodded. We stood near the door and the crowd carried us to the corner. "Kuroko." I called and grabbed his shirt. I didn't realize that he was standing so close to me. He looked at me puzzled. "I... feel... lightheaded" I informed and rested my head on his chest. "Must be because of the crowd." I continued and closed my eyes. "You have motion sickness." He informed and held my head with his right hand and his left restraining the crowd from me. I can hear him but I chose to ignore him.

As we got nearer to our destination, we got the chance to sit down. I was resting my head on his shoulder all through the trip. "Is she always like this?" Kagami asked but didn't try to show any sign of concern to both of us. "Mhm" Kuroko nodded. "She needs me." He continued and looked at our hands holding at each other.

We transferred to a bus and I continue to sleep on his shoulder. "Kuro...' I mumbled in my sleep. "They look good together." Aida said peeking from her chair. Kuroko and I were seating at the back of the bus. "I wish I have a girl like that at my side." Furihata said giggling at his seat. The bus stopped and we got off.  

I looked closely on the surrounding and saw sunflowers all over the area. I took out an apple and gave a bite. I drained myself from the whole trip thus I deserve a reward. The team looked so dumbfounded. "It's perfect." I spoke as I munched the apple. And Aida started to hug me. "You do have the eyes of an athlete." She praised me and kept hugging me. "Her cheerfulness is scaring me." Hyuga spoke and shivered.

We entered an inn and went straight to our rooms. "Michiko will be sharing a room with me." Aida informed and grabbed me from Kuroko. That was the time we let go off our hands.

"Michiko" Aida called while she was unpacking her things. I looked at her and she continued to speak. "I need you to take part of this training." She gave me a smile and I nodded in return. I paused for a while. "What's wrong?" She asked out of concern. "I'm out of apples." I answered immediately and showed my empty bag to Aida. "Wha?!" She screamed. "You didn't bring extra clothes nor toothbrush nor shampoo nor panties?!" She was hysterical and I shook my head.

Someone knocked on our door and I took the initiative to open it since Aida's gone crazy. "I brought your clothes and other things you might need." Kuroko handed a bag to me. Aida looked at us and ran to the door. "How did you-?" She didn't finish her sentence and just pointed at the bag. "We've done this during our middle school training camp and I'm telling you to let her stay with me during this camp." Kuroko offered and even lowered his head. I looked at Aida who was still confuse. "No!" She answered firmly and closed the door. "I will teach you how to be a lady." She informed.

The first night was terrible for Aida. She didn't get enough sleep cause she had to wash for me, fix my clothes and take me back and forth to the toilet. She barely even sleep cause I shared the futon with her. I was moving too much for her to take a rest. The next morning the team didn't get to train much because Aida was also exhausted on her first night with me.

During dinner

"Aida." I called looking at her who was still messed up with last night. I wanted to ask assistance to her but then "Ok. ok!" She cried pulling her hair and the team looked at her. "Kuroko, I will give you the responsibility to take care of Michiko." She ordered as she stood up and went straight to the bedroom. I looked at Kuroko and he spoke "You still need to take a bath before you go to bed." The team was shocked to hear Kuroko's words. "They're going to take bath together?" They all whispered and got really envious.

Kuroko was scrubbing my back when I decided to speak. "Is it really that difficult to have me around?" I asked and he paused for a while. He didn't answer me and instead continued washing me. He splashed me a warm bucket of water when Hanamiya entered. Kuroko was shocked, I was carefree and Hanamiya seemed like he didn't mind at all. Instead, he came closer to where we were. Kuroko threw a towel around me. I looked at both of them and saw Hanamiya made a devilish grin. Kuroko stepped forward to cover me as well. Hanamiya backed off in the end and never came back.

Kuroko looked at me and walked me on our room. I put my clothes on and he fixed it for me. We readied for bed and I slept beside Kuroko. I kept moving around the futon and Kuroko decided to put his arm around me. "You'd feel comfortable this way." He said and I fell fast asleep. I felt the warm and security under his arms.

 (*)(FLASHBACK TO THE PART WHERE KUROKO SAID I WAS SPECIAL)

They paused for a while and Kagami couldn't resist the silence. "What happened to her?" He asked Kuroko who was still standing behind the door. "It was all because of her brother." He answered looking at the ground. Kagami wanted to know more about me but he felt like that topic is a taboo for me. "I'll save her. I'll bring back the Michiko I met 8 years ago." Kuroko firmly swore. (Well, I assumed that middle school takes up to 5 years. I'm not really sure guys.)
