Training Day | Chapter 2

Aboard the WintersRunner.
                                                 CC, Mactavish, and the militia soldiers walked up to the command deck of the ship. Mactavish had a good look around as they did. It wasn't that different to a IMC ship, other then less security and it kinda being messy. Once at the command deck of the ship CC introduced Mactavish to Captain Reyes.
"Captain Reyes!" CC said giving a salute as she walked down the small flight of stairs up to Reyes. Mactavish standing next to her. "Pilot. Who's this?" Asked Reyes, pointing to Mactavish. CC cleared her throat introducing Mactavish. "This is Captain Mactavish, sir. The one who fought at the Gripsy operation." Reyes gave a good look at Mactavish, then smirked. "Huh, Militia thought you died during the battle after you're ship crashes." Said Reyes. Mactavish just shrugged and smiled "Well... As my father once said, Andran's never die."
"So they say" replied Reyes.
He then turned and walked over to a table, having computers hung from the ceiling by connectors hang from above. It showed a map of the galaxy and where they were in it. "So how'd you find him?" Reyes asked CC.
"He was fighting off some IMC scouts, so we took him captive sense we didn't know who it was." Replied CC.
Mactavish rubbed the back of his head, letting out a soft chuckle. "Yeah, nice work on that."
CC just giggled and smirked. Reyes turned back to Mactavish and crossed his arms. "Well, Mactavish. Welcome to the WintersRunner, a ship purely built from militia hands." Said Reyes.
Mactavish smiled looking around the command deck seeing people at work. Mactavish walked over to the big glass window, seeing out towards the front of the ship. "It's a nice ship. Could use a little more work, and better security. But it's a nice ship." Mactavish said with a soft sigh turning back to Reyes.
"It's the best the Militia has to offer. She's lived through more fights then she's even seen." Replied Reyes.
"Hahah, if I still had a ship I'd tell you the same thing." Mactavish said with a smirk.
"Well I have a question, Mactavish. So if you don't mind me asking. Would you be willing the join the Militia? Specifically as a, pilot" Reyes said, clearing his throat after. CC's eyes widened a little and she glanced at Reyes shocked at what he just said.
"B-But sir..." CC was about to say something but then Reyes put his hand up, ordering her to be silent.
Mactavish thought hard. He then slowly nodded. "Alright, I'm in."
"And you know this is a rebellion, right? This isn't the fancy IMC." Reyes said.
"Then I rebel." Replied Mactavish. There was a small pause between them all, before Reyes walked up to Mactavish and shook his hand. "Welcome to the Militia then."
CC cleared her throat letting out a huff. Getting both Mactavish and Reyes' attention.
"So if you two are done with the whole 'meet and greet' crap, can we talk about who or what is gonna train Mactavish to become a pilot?!" CC said sounding agitated. Reyes let out a soft chuckle.
"We have three pilots currently on board of the ship. CC, Tigress, and Kotch." Reyes said to Mactavish.
"You'll be the forth once you've completely you're training, which, sense CC seems to be so excited she'll be the one training you." Reyes said looking at CC with a grin. CC eyes were wide and her jaw dropped just in complete shock. She stood straight and cleared her throat. "But sir! I... I don't know if I can do that." CC replied. Reyes walked over and patted her shoulder. "Come now girl, it can't be that hard. You can do it just be patient." Reyes smiled at her. Tigress, who was a robot pilot standing guard at the command deck let out a soft chuckle. "Perhaps all three pilots could teach him sir, give him tips from here and there?" Asked Tigress. Reyes looked at her then nodded. CC huffed then looked at Mactavish. "Please tell me you're a fast learner?" Asked CC. Mactavish smirked crossing his arms. "Faster then a bullet." Replied Mactavish. Reyes then cleared his throat getting everyone's attention. "Pilots, you here will be teaching Mactavish here how to become a pilot. Any complaints or problems report to me. You all are dismissed." With that being said everyone went back to work.
"Alright then..." CC said in a low voice. "Let's see what you can learn, follow me." CC then lead Mactavish out of the command deck. They took a elevator to the third deck of the massive space ship, heading to a testing room where weapons, armour, equipment, and other things like that would be tested. "This is our training slash testing room. Anything we find that's new is tested here." Said CC. Mactavish looked around the massive room, then noticed these weird black steel pods. "Are those sim pods?" Asked Mactavish. CC nodded "mhmm! That's what we're gonna be doing. You go ahead and climb inside one and I'll set up the training grounds."
Mactavish got a little excited, never once has he been a pilot so this was new for him. He climbed in one of the pods and flipped a switch above causing the pod to close. The pod closed and green lights shined on the inside, blinding Mactavish for a second before all of a sudden he could see again. He was in this beautiful grassy land, standing on a platform. Water flowed backwards and floated in the air instead of down from gravity. CC then appeared looking at him.
"Welcome to the training grounds. This simulation is themed after my home world Harmony." Said CC.
Mactavish was just amazed at how beautiful the place was, never had he ever seen anything like it really. There was a bit of mist in the air with a gentle breeze. The grass flowing and rocks shaped like hexagons where across the land. Multiple platforms then appeared directly in front of them. It was then Mactavish noticed he was wearing a full suit of Pilot armour, the same armour he had found a few years ago and wore before being captured.
"So, Mactavish, you're objective is too get from this platform to that one all the way over there without touching the ground." Said CC crossing her arms. Mactavish paused then looked at her. "Using, what? The wall So?" Mactavish asked. CC nodded as a reply. Pilots where specially skilled in things like agility. Being able to climb up buildings without breaking a sweat, being able to trouble jump using there jump kits, and being able to run on walls. Mactavish took a deep breath. CC then ran in front of him, showing him how to do it. She held one hand against the wall, clinging to it in a way but also moving fast and graceful without any problems. She then jumped across from that wall to the next, and the wall after that before landing on the platform across from Mactavish. Mactavish took another deep breath before running towards the wall. He then jump and ran against it. His eyes widened a little. He felt as if he couldn't stop his legs from moving yet he was the one moving them. He then fell though to the grass below, right before he hit the ground he was teleported back up to the platform which he started at. "Time you're jumps, be graceful and don't panic." Said CC in the comms of Mactavish's helmet. Mactavish huffed then ran again clinging to the wall and running across it this time much more determined. He then jumped to the other wall, almost loosing his balance but it worked. He then jumped to the other then jumped down to the platform that CC stood on. He landed without even feeling pain. He let out s huge sigh taking deep breaths. "Holy shit! That felt so... Weird!" Exclaimed Mactavish. CC just laughed and smiled.
"Hahahah! Well, most pilots feel that way. But that jump kit, the thing on your hips, that's what's helping you do all this. It also helps slow the impact of your fall so you don't snap a leg." Mactavish took deep breaths before standing straight. "Well that's relieving." Said Mactavish as he caught his breath. CC then teleported a much bigger course in front of him. "Well, here's part two. Now on the other side is the weapons test so if you wanna get to shooting you gotta go through that." She then teleported away. Mactavish sighed and rolled his eyes glaring at the course. "Great" he said to himself. After four failed attempts he finally made it. CC has been waiting there drinking some coffee. Mactavish practically dragging himself across the floor being so exhausted. CC laughed almost spilling her coffee. "Haha! Took you long enough." She giggled. Mactavish stood straight and crossed his arms at her. "You didn't tell me I had to do slides and stuff!"
"I didn't? Oh well." Replied CC just shrugging and giggling more. A bright blue flash of light then interrupted the both of them as another person has just joined there session. CC turned seeing another pilot, wearing heavy armour with a third robot arm just like Mactavish's. CC stood up and smirked. "You finally decided to show up" said CC.
"It's been a long day, what do you need?" The pilot asked having a deep African American accent.
"This here is our newest Pilot. His name is Shay Mactavish." Said CC pointing at Mactavish.
"We're training him how to be a pilot. So far he's gotten the hang of the whole agility part. But I need you to teach him about weapons and explosives and stuff."
The other pilot huffed then looked at Mactavish. CC teleported away. The pilot gave a hand shake to Mactavish before speaking again. "I'm Kotch, staff sergeant and leader of both the grunts on the ship and the pilot squad."
Mactavish smiled under his helmet. "Well, nice to meet you Kotch."
Kotch just grunted and crossed his arms. "Don't get soft with me, rookie. You're under my command so you do what I say understood?" Kotch asked sounding overly serious.
"Yes Sir." Replied Mactavish.
Kotch then teleported them both to a completely different area in the training grounds. They were now at a shooting range. To the left of Mactavish was a all of weapons. Kotch leaned against the wall to his right.
"Pick a weapon then fire at the targets when ready." Said Kotch. Mactavish picked up a G2 assault rifle, then got into position to fire. He then fired the rifle t'ill all the targets were flipped. They then flipped back into normal position.
"Now as a pilot you have to be prepared for anything. Pilots carry weapons that are both easy to carry, and deadly, and highly customisable. I'm gonna set up a course for you. You'll be equipped with the G2 rifle with a suppressor, a pistol with a suppressor, and some explosives." Kotch said standing straight. Mactavish looked at him and nodded. "Well, I'm ready whenever." Replied Mactavish. There was a big flash of white before Mactavish saw again. It was now night time in the simulation. Mactavish was just a few feet away from a large metal building. Kotch then spoke on his helmet comms. "Alright, you're objective is to sneak into the base and eliminate any guards without getting caught. You need to plant the explosives that you're carrying onto the generator of the base. Escape the building then detonate the explosives. Understood?"
Mactavish nodded then stood straight. He turned invisible and snuck towards the base, getting up against the wall. He then climbed up towards the roof using his jump kit to help him climb. He then crouched down and snuck across the roof. A guard standing on the roof wasn't paying attention to what was behind him, that being Mactavish. Mactavish came up behind him and snapping his neck then laid him down. Mactavish then spotted a window on the top of the base. He walked up to it, then jumped through it. He landed in a hall way, his invisibility timed up and he was now visible again. His footsteps were quiet as he walked down the hall staying against the wall. He then looked up hearing a sound and spotting a security camera. He gulped a little and kept going hopping it wouldn't spot him. He then rolled through a door way, being in so,e sorta garage. There were two guards working on a vehicle. Kotch then spoke into the comms of Mactavish's helmet. "The generator room is towards the east side of the building."
Mactavish took a deep breath then got behind some crates. He then jumped over them shooting both the guards in the head killing them both. They're bodies dropped to the ground then disappeared into orange pixels. Mactavish pressed on through the base. All of a sudden a siren went off and Kotch spoke on the comms, this time the base comms. "All security teams be on the lookout for a Militia pilot, coloured in black and yellow approximately 6'9 in height."
Mactavish growled now knowing that Kotch was controlling this whole simulation. Mactavish turned invisible suddenly hearing footsteps. Four guards rushed by him but didn't see him. Mactavish kept going, eventually getting to the generator room. He planted the explosives then quickly rushed out of the room heading back into the long halls. He went a different path this time, knowing the guards would be all over the section of the base he came through. He started going through a cafeteria section of the base. His invisibility timed up once again and he was now visible. Mactavish then quickly dropped to his belly hearing guards walk by outside the cafeteria. They shined lights into the dark cafe from outside the window, trying to spot him. However Mactavish was almost impossible to see from the angle, so they passed by. Mactavish stood up and kept going. He was at the front entrance of the base, about to leave when a guard spotted him from down the hall. "Pilot spotted at base entrance! I repeat Pilot spotted at front entrance! Ughh!" The guard yelled as Mactavish shot him multiple times in the head to shut him up. More security guards were rushing towards the front. Mactavish then pulled out the detonator for the explosives he planted. He then hit the trigger and a loud bang rumble through the base. He rushed out of the base quickly as more explosions followed shortly after the big one. Mactavish ran off into the grass fields as the base exploded, then a bright flash of light was seen and Mactavish was teleported back to the original location where CC had brought him when they first entered the pods. Kotch was standing there with his arms crossed. Mactavish stood straight.
"So?" Mactavish asked titling his head a little.
"It was... Sloppy... But it worked" Kotch replied. "You've passed."
Mactavish sighed in relief and stretched a little. "And here I thought I'd have to do it over and over again." Kotch chuckled after he said that and rolled his eyes. "Oh you have to. I'm just not in the mood to watch you over and over again. In a actual mission, you would have been dead from the second the sirens went off."
Mactavish just shrugged. "Eh, sneaking isn't my type of thing anyway. I prefer to kick ass on a big battlefield."
Kotch just sighed and rolled his eyes again. "Well, you have a long way to go. So I'd recommend you keep practicing. Now, it's time you get to try out what really makes a pilot special. A Titan."
Mactavish's eyes widened a little. "Really??"
Kotch nodded and began walking off. He then teleported away. Shortly after another bright blue light flashed and another pilot appeared. This time it was Tigress, the robot pilot and personal guard for Captain Reyes.
Mactavish sighed a little in relief. "Oh, it's you. I thought I was being left behind in this pod." He chuckled.
Tigress giggled and did a rolling motion with her had, as if rolling her eyes. "Having fun yet?" She had a sweet French accent, combined with a metallic robot accent. Mactavish shrugged.
"I guess, Kotch is sorta... Well, to serious." He chuckled.
Tigress nodded in agreement. "He's just all soldier. You'll get use to it. Now, I've been informed you need some Pilot training, specifically in Titans?" She asked. Mactavish nodded excitedly. "Yes ma'am!"
Tigress smirked, all of a sudden everything flashed white and they were teleported somewhere else.
