Chapter 9: Absence

Days passed and more days passed and it turned into weeks, summer was slowly turning into winter. The warm wind was replaced with cold wind and the weather was gray in Seoul.

The boys hadn't been to school since the last time you saw them, which felt like a forever now. You wondered what had happened with them. They seemed all pretty normal on television and happy. What hurt the most was that you missed Yongguk and his absence at school could clearly be felt.

You had spent day's together working and he used to tease you a lot, now he was suddenly gone and nothing made sense at all.

Today was one of those days where you wished you were in your bed, being in school was tiring and boring now. Soo Min was on a school trip with her class, which meant that the house was empty with you alone and it didn't help at all with your mood.

Your teacher even sensed that you were getting school tired. You had asked Mr. Choi about B.A.P, and he didn't fully know why they didn't come to the classes.

Jae Hee blamed you for the boy's absence, because you were starting to get close to Yongguk, she said you scared him away, which made you angry. You knew she just tried to get on your nerves and you hated it because it worked.

She made you angry and also doubt. You wondered if it was because of you that he left. But thinking back on how he smiled at you, laughed and teased you. He even held your hands a few times and brushed your cheeks kindly as if there was an "us" between you.

You kept onto to the thought that he didn't leave because of you.

Today you sat alone on your seat in the canteen as usual, no one came over to you to talk. You had been avoiding Jaejoong the last couples of days and his calls, you told him you needed some time to yourself.

There are a few minutes left of your lunch break, when some girls beside you started chatting out loud. "Yongguk! Omo Yongguk!" you heard his name and your heart started beating faster.

You looked through the canteen to see if he was there, to your disappointment, there was no Yongguk to be seen. You glanced at the girls, who were talking and you noticed they were just looking at some pictures of Yongguk. Your heart sank deeper

What's wrong with me? you sulked and got up to leave for class.

You got back to your class and sat down on your seat, a few minutes earlier before the class started, Jae Hee entered the class room. You didn't care to look up, but down at your book. Jae Hee was walking at your direction, you sighed and looked up at her and she was facing you.

"What do you want?" you asked her tiredly.

Jae Hee looked back at her friends smirking and then back at you.

"Yah! _____ah don't play cool with me. We all know it, you hit on Yongguk, so he was forced to leave with B.A.P" she exclaimed mad.

You stood up, dumfounded by what you just heard.

"Don't spread any lies Jae Hee!" you shouted angry this time.

"What lies huh? It's obvious, you were clinging onto Yongguk on purpose trying to seduce him!" she yelled.

Unknowingly your hand got up ready to smack Jae Hee, she screamed trying to protect her face.

But you were suddenly stopped by someone. Your eyes were fiery red with anger, when you turned to look towards the person, who had just stopped you from slapping Jae Hee.

"That's enough girls!" Jae Joong said.

Jae Hee backed behind with her friends, when she saw Jaejoong.

"Ahh oppa. Please tell ______ ah to leave me alone, she was about to hit me and she called me a whore!"

Jae Hee was whining and spitting out lies at Jaejoong. Jaejoong was still holding your arm. You could only look into his eyes as he was speaking to Jae Hee. You really didn't feel like defending yourself against childish Jae Hee.

"Cut it Jae Hee, I know you are spreading false rumors here! ______ ah is not the type of person, who you try to portray her as" he said firmly and tightened his jaw.

With those words, he grabbed hold of your arm tighter and walked out with you. Instead of resting his grip on you, you let yourself be taken away by this seemingly ulzzang guy, who wanted to protect you.

A few minutes later, you were on top of the roof. Both not saying a word.. Until you broke off the silence

"Thank you for taking me away and stopping me from.. yeah.. hitting her" you said.

You looked down ashamed, you had never been so close to hitting a girl before like today.

"It's okay, but please tell me are you okay? You have been avoiding me. I feel it's my duty to be there for you, like you listen to all my problems" Jaejoong said.

You sighed, but telling Jaejoong about how you have been feeling lately and because of who, didn't seem like an good thing to do at the moment, or at all.

"I'm thankful of you worrying about me Jae, but I'm really fine.. It's just girl's problem you know" you said.

You tried to appear as trustful as you could. To your luck, he believed your lie.

"Good! Now please take my calls from now on?" he laughed.

"Sure, but right now I don't feel like attending the class" you admitted.

"I understand. Do you want me to drop you off?" he asked.

"No, I'm fine thank you"

You smiled and winked at Jaejoong as you left. But deep inside you, you felt like you were dying. You could only cry on your way back home. As soon as you got inside your house you threw your bag on the floor and took a warm shower.

You were locked in the bathroom for hours. When you finally decided to get out and sleep. Somehow, you felt that next day wouldn't be any better.
