Chapter Seven
Liam's POV

I lay on the edge of my window staring at the stunningly blue sky above. It's been a week and a half since me and Zayn started meeting in the circle and I have to admit it felt great, I felt great. The birds chirped a little louder, the grass smelled a little fresher, the breeze felt a little warmer and the water sparkles a little bluer. All round things felt amazing.

"You looked chilled" I turned my head and seen my friend Niall entering my room. His blonde hair glistening in the dancing sun light.

"I am" I said laying my head down with a happy intake of breath I closed my eyes.

"Where have you been anyway?" I opened my eyes again. He had joined me on the ledge and was staring out into the distance "I haven't seen you in nearly two week" his gaze fell on me but I just smiled at him.

"Oh just here and there" my stare returned to the sky. I knew I could tell Niall what was happening but he'd want to come along and meet Zayn -he's always been obsessed with the Malik side- and that's something I wasn't willing to do just yet.

Niall opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by me sitting up straight, in fact I sat up so fast I almost knocked him of the ledge. I swung my legs round so they were hanging off the ledge and I could leave at a moments notice. I smiled as the familiar voice filled my head like a catchy song.

'Hey Liam' the voice sung.

'Hey Zayn, watcha doing' I said back as Niall looked at me as if I was crazy. I probably looked crazy, just sitting there smile at myself while talking to a voice in my head.

'Nothing much, you busy?' He asked me and I knew exactly what he was planning.

'No not really, usual place?' I must have been grinning like a Cheshire Cat at the two little letters that made my day.

'Ok'

With one final smile I turned to Niall who was clearly in a state of complete bewilderment "sorry Ni, gotta go" but before he could open his mouth I had pushed myself of the ledge, turned into my dragon form and took to the dazzling blue sky.

It was only a few moments but I enjoyed it greatly. The wind in my face as soared towards the circle. I went into a dive as the stone arches of the alters came into view and with a whirl of smoke my feet hit the ground and I raced up the stairs, but the circle was empty.

I shrugged and pushed myself onto the central alter and lay back and waited for Zayn. Five minutes went by, then ten then another fifteen and before I knew it I was there and hour and no Zayn. I sat up in panic, what if something's happened?

I hopped off the alter and left the circle, the usual tingle of energy waved over my body telling me my dragon form was back in action. I jogged down the stairs and took off on a brisk walk along the border. I began to worry, surely he'd tell me if something got in the way of him coming.

I scanned the charred landscape looking for and sign on my raven haired friend. Then I seen it, a sight that made me feel sick to my stomach. A body in a crumpled heap laying quite a distance from the border. Cut, bruised and bleeding, it was Zayn.

"Zayn!" I yelled and dashed forward, all thought of the border leaving my mind. The soft grass soon turned to crunching ash as I moved as quickly as possible to my injured friend. I fell to my knees beside him creating a plume of ash that quickly coated me.

"Zayn" I whispered this time and over turned his body to reveal a heavily slashed face with body to match. His clothes were torn and deep cuts were imbedded in his chest, warm blood now trickling onto my hands.

"No, no, no" I felt tears stream my face as I lay him down and prepared to -hopefully- heal him. But before I could ignite my hands there was a tremendous thud and the ground began to shake. I looked up and five furious black dragons were glaring down at me, smoke bellowing from the nostrils.

"Please help?" I said ignoring the fact that they're probably going to kill me. There was a flood of black smoke and then stood five men still at least three times my size and heavily scarred.

"What are you doing here Payne?" Demanded one of them.

"He needs help" I cried and there gaze fell on the torn up Zayn at me knees. There eyes widened and temper rose. Before I knew what was happening one of them was on top on me and I was pinned to the ground.

I was dragged away by two as the rest of them huddled around Zayn. I had no idea where they were taking me but instead of think about my impending doom and inevitable war all I could do was worry about Zayn.

Soon we were at the doors of what looked like an abandoned castle and they were pushed opened by two equally large men. The inside didn't look any better. Nearly every window was ether smashed or cracked, paint and paper was peeling from the wall, the ceiling had missing panels and a huge chandelier lay in ruin in the middle of the floor.

I was lead into what looked like a very large study but it was just as damaged at the previous hallway. At one end a fire roared and behind a large tattered desk stood a man. like Zayn his skin was dark and his hair was black but unlike Zayn his face showed heavy signs of scarring. although you could tell that he was incredibly handsome in his youth he now looked fearfully dangerous.

"Yaser" said the brute to my left and he looked up from his desk. His eye immediately fell on and a frown grew on his face "we found this Payne on our land" he spoke again. The sudden realisation that I wasn't leaving here alive hit me and if brute one and brute two wasn't holding me so tightly I would have crumbled to the ground.

"Really?" Yaser said calmly "and why?" I didn't know if he was talking to me or not but the answer came the brute two (the right one) answered.

"We don't know sir but he was found beside a badly injured Zayn" I seen fury rose in Yaser's face.

"Please sir, I didn-" but before I could finish Yaser turned into a blur, the two men at ether side of me released their grip and flew across the room , crashing into various pieces of furniture. Yaser's hand closed around my throats and I was lifted of the ground.

"you attacked my son" he said as I gasped for air. His voice was low but was filled with unimaginable anger. I frantically shook my head as tears poured from my eye. He clearly didn't believe me as his hand tightened and there was no air getting to my lungs what so ever now.

This was it, my end!
